3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg - Founders Brewery Cafe, Nelson. A clear, ruddy copper-amber with a fine, mostly fading off-white to beige head. Softly roasted coffee, toasty malts, toffee and bold, juicy mid-fruits. Dry palate, medium-ish body, soft carbonation and a gentle finish. Rounded and supple palate texture.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
THe head is ok, the body brown. It smells sweet, malty, amber, bit flowery. The taste is mild, ambermalty, bit hoppy. Ok

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml at the Boat Shed Nelson. Pours amber with tan head that fades quickly. Wow great aroma of floral hops and caramel sweetness. Bitter taste, medium bodied then a sort of nutty aftertaste follows. Had with oysters. The oysters overpowering flavour eventually turned the aftertaste into something like mushrooms.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not blood red, more overtly red amber. I love a red beer, like I love a fiery red-headed paramour, however, is this as gorgeous? It’s up there, but I would be veering toward the paramour. There is a voluminous white head on this beer. The aroma is grassy and hoppy rather than of cracked amber malts, however the flavour manifests this trait. Sweet at first among the bright effervescence of the mouthfeel and then elegant pecan nuts, apricots and nectarine flavours.
Likable and drinkable enough for a first offering for this beer under its new ownership, Viva la choice.
