Back in merry olde England, the roadside inns were abuzz with banter and smiling glances from buxom barmaids - barmaids who, we might add, brewed the ale they served. In their honor, our brewers treat each batch of Dundee English-Style Ale they brew with the same love and care as the barmaids of old, combining pale and caramel malts with Columbus and Cascade hops for a malty, slightly sweet finish. Now, if only they’d stop dressing like barmaids...

My favorite thing about this beer is the picture of the buxom barmaid on the labeland the description on the back. 12 oz. bottle from winter sampler pack pours an almost clear amber with a very small white head. Nothing in the nose. Aroma is faint hops and grassiness. Body is too thin for my tastes. OK, it’s better than cheap macrobrews, but one of the more ordinary samplings from this widely-distributed sampler 12-pack.

From a seasonal pack. Poured a hazy medium golden. Smell is faint and grassy. It tastes a bit better than it looks. Floral and grassy. A little sweet/honey like. Finish is diminished with a little bit of an adjunct graininess.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 1/3/12

Aroma: The nose is almost non-existent, with bread notes, grass, earth, and a hint of metal
Appearance: It pours a clear golden color with a foamy white head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet with an herbal, grassy hop flavor, and a metallic twang
Palate: The body is light, it is somewhat watery, with a fairly dull feel, and a slightly metallic finish
Overall Impression: I wasn’t really too impressed here. This one just doesn’t have a lot going on. It was just kind of lacking. This a boring beer. I don’t have too much more to add beyond that.

The aroma is a bit dirty with adjunct malt and grassy hops. The appearance is slightly orange gold with a small head. The taste is like the aroma with a malty/yeasty finish. The palate is average. Overall not horrible.

Murky gold with almost no head and nose. The hop bitterness does stand out during the first taste. Not much mouthfeel. Finishes thin and bland.

Just a boring ale. Light amber, medium head. Butterscotch and grainy nose and flavors, mild grassy and herbal hop character, balanced bitterness.

A clear, yellow-orange pour with a white head. It has a cereal grain aroma with just a hint of grassy hops. The light body has a crisp texture with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet initially, followed by a dry, slightly bitter finish.

12 oz. bottle from winter craft 12 pack. Nearly clear, golden color. No head or lace. Light malt nose. Light malt taste. I get nothing else at all. Even when warm, I can’t pick up any hops at all. It’s hard to write about a beer that doesn’t have much aroma or flavor.

Bought as part of a mix pack from Kroger on the first day of Sunday alcohol sales in GA. Slight hoppiness in the aroma. Pours a clear golden color with little or no head. Not nearly as good as my favorite (authentic) English ales but a decent attempt none the less.

It pours a highly carbonated light amber with a long lasting head thanks to that carbonation. The aroma has a bit of malts and sugars. Bread and biscuit anyone? The body is thinner than I imagined. The taste is interestingly sweet and slightly bitter at the end. There is an odd acidity in it as well. I think it was a noble attempt but didn’t quite get there.
