3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2007
A dark amber IPA with a thick white head, lacing. Goddam, this does smell of hops, and good ones at that! Nice cramel and light c-hops aroma makes this a nice little cheap IPA. In mouth, a lightly sweet caramel malt with buttery notes, good sustained bitterness...by Jove, this is a decent IPA, on par with Boreale Rousse. At 90 cents a bottle, this would be a good everyday beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2009
Deep orange-golden coloured brew with a creamy white head. The aroma is lightly hoppy with a touch of light citrus and a bit of grapefruit. There is a touch of light sweet caramelly malt. Light crystal malt and a bit of soft hoppiness. The flavour is pretty well-balanced with a touch of light bitterness on the back of a light maltiness. Soft fruity flavour. The best of the mixed case, by a long shot.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 23, 2011
Bottle: Pours a clear copper amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly piny and musty nose with a touch of grainy caramel sweetness. Starts with decent fullness and finely-dissolved carbonation with some sticky carmel toffee sugars and herbal grassy bittering hops before a drier, bittersweet finish. The hop blend has a stale taste to it and the malt profile could be cleaner.
