COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed using the Yorkshire square system of fermentation, the nut brown ale calls the North of England home. A hint of hazelnut, a dash of rich caramel and a sprinkle of chocolate malt all intertwine with the flowery bouquet of Willamette hops to produce a round-bodied ale worthy of its homeland. Take a leaf out of our buddy Cyril the red squirrel’s book, and enjoy a Dundee Nut Brown Ale in your own drey. (Drey = a squirrel’s nest. See, you learned something too.)

Bottle from sampler pack pours a clear light brown with small white head and some lacing. Smells like caramel malts and hazelnut. Aroma is the same. Body is a little thin for my tastes. Pleasant nutty finsh. OK, but it’s a stretch to call this craft beer.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Firestone pint glass From: BevMo in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif. Price: $14.99 for a BevMo variety 8-pack (w/ BevMo card) Purchased: Dec. 31, 2013 Consumed: Jan. 4, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a reddish amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Lots of uneven foamy lacing along the sides of the glass. Very good retention on the top. Smelled a pleasant whiff of caramel, toffee, roasted nuts, hazelnut, espresso, light chocolate and some honey. Not a lot, but very good. Tasted pretty close to the nose, but not quite as good. Got roasted bitter nuts, hazelnut, espresso, caramel, toffee, honey and some metallic notes. Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. This beer had its moments for sure. A couple of my ratings could have changed a tick or two either way, but the finish wasn’t matched by the start.

12 ounce bottle. not a super strong taste but pleasant malty taste. Solid cheaper beer. Would drink again

Dark brown color, off white head. Malt, toast, earth, chocolate, metallic aroma. Flavor is the same. The metallic seems to stand out in an unpleasant way

Alright, I purchased this one as part of the Dundee Summer Sampler box at the Ferguson Road Kroger - Alright, I emptied my twelve ounce bottle into a clean, clear glass and was impressed by its malty/bready aroma and dark trandparent hue. Tastewise, this one has roasted nalt, caramelike flavor, but is a bit watery on its finish. Still, it would be a fine everyday beer for those who like the nut brown style.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is malty and roasty. Flavor is the same but with a hint of nuttiness. As usual for Dundee, watery but cheap and decent.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear, brown with a one finger, off-white head that thins to a film but leaves a layer of lacing. Aroma has notes of bread and caramel mixed with a touch of fruit and a hint of chocolate and spice. Taste is malty but balanced. Hints of caramel and bread balanced with bitter with a short finish. Medium body and carbonation. Fairly crisp in the mouth with a smooth, easy drinking finish. Overall this is an easy drinking and enjoy beer. Enough flavour for most without being offputting to the non-beergeek out there. I would drink this again but probably wouldn’t search it out. Just too many other things to try.

Pours a deep brown with a thick beige head. Fizzy. Aroma is similar to other brown ales, bit of caramel malt and a touch of hops. Light bodied and smooth. A bit of hazelnut. Not bad, but not much here to recommend.

Pours a dark amber with a slowly diminishing head. Aroma dominated by malts as expected. Very smooth and flavorful. The hazelnut really comes through in the flavor. A nice fall ale.
