COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed using the Yorkshire square system of fermentation, the nut brown ale calls the North of England home. A hint of hazelnut, a dash of rich caramel and a sprinkle of chocolate malt all intertwine with the flowery bouquet of Willamette hops to produce a round-bodied ale worthy of its homeland. Take a leaf out of our buddy Cyril the red squirrel’s book, and enjoy a Dundee Nut Brown Ale in your own drey. (Drey = a squirrel’s nest. See, you learned something too.)

Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is malty and a little bit of roasted nuts. Flavor is the same starts out with some malts then comes a bit of roasted nuts. Like most of this brewers beers its kinda watery but cheap.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is malty and roasty. Flavor is the same but with a hint of nuttiness. As usual for Dundee, watery but cheap and decent.

Pours a very clear very light brown with about a finger of head. Oats and toffee in the odor. Tastes different than I’d expect from the nose. Very watery with a little bit of bitterness that goes into a slightly almost skunky aftertaste. It’s not bad for how cheap it is, but not worth recommending.

The aroma is surprisingly alcoholic and very sweet with syrup, chocolate, and nuts. The appearance is medium brown with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with a medicinal syrup in it. The palate is average. Overall pretty average.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5095) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a huge fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was very faint but semi sweet and tangy with a faint vegetal presence. The flavor was tangy, malty and a touch vegetal with a sour caramel element. Medium length tangy caramel finish. Light to medium body. Blah.

Rated on 10-17-2011 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a medium sized smooth, fizzy ivory head with short retention, copper transparent body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, nutty, light chocolate, and a suggestion of hops. The flavor is malt, chocolate and nutty. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light bodied. This beer has a weak and boring flavor. It lacks character and is a beer that is not on my want to drink again list.

Loved the label and that’s about all. Fairly boring nut brown honestly. Where’s the toasty flavor?

Brown pour. Nutty aroma, some artificial sweetness and metallic notes. Flavor is sweet, fake, and very metallic.

Bottle. Pours a clear light brown body under a fizzy of-white head that had pretty decent retention. The nose is a little too husky and grainy but there’s some decent light nuttiness and light coffee as well. The flavor is a bit thin with a little too much huskiness as well. A little bit of chocolate and nuttiness, but the huskiness overpowers it too much. Finishes with a grainy note and some lingering caramel sweetness. The body is thin as well with a bit of clinginess on the finish. Not exactly a wonderful example of the style.
