2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours a clear light brown body under a fizzy of-white head that had pretty decent retention. The nose is a little too husky and grainy but there’s some decent light nuttiness and light coffee as well. The flavor is a bit thin with a little too much huskiness as well. A little bit of chocolate and nuttiness, but the huskiness overpowers it too much. Finishes with a grainy note and some lingering caramel sweetness. The body is thin as well with a bit of clinginess on the finish. Not exactly a wonderful example of the style.

Poured deep copper with a foamy, white head. Faint biscuit aroma. Taste is rye bread and corn, but overall pretty watery.

Large foamy fine long lasting tan head. Transparent typically carbonated cola brown. Weak nut brown malt aroma. Very nice nut brown malt flavor. Quaffable mild tingly start to finish.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark brown with about 2 fingers of rapidly diminishing white head. Not much there by way of aroma, a little caramel and maybe just a slight hint of pine. Taste is light sweet. Caramel with a little bit of hazelnut...maybe. Light bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, it’s ok. As with most Dundee products, it’s a good intro to craft but nothing I would seek out.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Dundee Nut Brown Ale from the Dundee Brewing Co. in Rochester NY. This is a pretty standard Brown Ale. Not too cloying or over malted. That is to say that while there are dark malts for the style, they don’t compete as the top flavor. The chocolate malt stays in the background. There doesn’t seem to be any black patent in the bill. Not at all hoppy. The palate is very smooth, making this a nice session brew, even at 5.3% abv. The label claims it has natural hazelnut flavors, but not that I detected.

Mildly intriguing aroma and a thin brown pour leads to a mild taste and basic mouthfeel.
