2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DrDavid (957) - Johnson, Vermont, USA - SEP 11, 2008
(Bottle). Sweet caramel aroma. Amber color, no head. Flavor is mild, slightly sweet, with caramel and some malt. A bit of metallic intrusion. Pleasant mild finish. Not bad.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jpm30 (1587) - East Central, Georgia, USA - SEP 3, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2008 12 oz. twist-off bottle, no freshness date, short blurb on the back label that offers no real info, on the neck label, along the left side of the UPC bar code is the ABV (Ale 5.5% ALC./VOL.). Underneath the cap is the number (3). Sampled in a seidel mug.
L: Clear shiny copper color with a head of spongy off-white, pale beige foam that settles into a fine sudsy skim. A light amount of spotty lace clings to sides of the glass before turning into a smattering of lace dots. There is a continuous stream of micro bubbles flowing from the bottom of the mug up to the sudsy roof. Not a bad looking start, good enough for the style.
S: At first, fruity aromas of white grapes and lemons, followed by mild sweet malts scents of bread and caramel. At the edges is bare traces of floral herbs. Kinda of a weak nose of a Oktoberfest.
F: Light bodied that is made softly firm from the carbonation. Finishes on a briskly crisp note. The mouthfeel is nothing to write home about, pretty average for a lower trier Oktoberfest.
T: The taste is less than impressive, none of the rich, slightly crystallized sugary, toasted malt flavors that I like in a good Oktoberfest. Watery bread, touches of caramel, with a wet, soggy graininess at the end. A hint of moldy must as well. Mid palate are colorless fruity flavors of apples and lemon tea. The watery soaked finish is, thankfully, quick and abrupt. In the aftertaste is the cleansing dryness of old used up hops. This also leaves behind an quite unpleasant metallic twang in the palate.
D: The flavor profile is incredibly thin of the style, which reduces the drinkability for me. Dundee’s Oktoberfest is cheap enough, I paid $4.59 for my six, but the bland and boring taste means I will be passing this by in the future.

One of the better Oktoberfests. Rich caramel flavor that is perfect for a cool autumn night. Amber/copper color and a sweet aroma with a farily clean finish.

Decent looking copper, reddish tinged. Very filtered, nice lacing. Aroma of freshly mown grass, taste is of honey, very sweet and malty with some baking bread. Not that full bodied. JW scores a near miss again by wussing out on the quantities of ingredients.
