2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jb (1601) - Rochester, USA - AUG 26, 2008
Decent looking copper, reddish tinged. Very filtered, nice lacing. Aroma of freshly mown grass, taste is of honey, very sweet and malty with some baking bread. Not that full bodied. JW scores a near miss again by wussing out on the quantities of ingredients.

bottle - Pours lightly hazy amber-orange with a small off-white head. The aroma is of caramel malt with maybe a hint of fruit. It tastes of sweet caramel malt and not much else. It’s light to medium bodied and drinkable enough, but not work seeking out.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 SanfordBrewer (1261) - Sanford, Florida, USA - FEB 16, 2012
Appearance is translucent copper-amber with a thin beige head, slightly sticky medium body, and medium carbonation.
Aroma has some dark-roasted grain astringency, fruity esters, and a slight sour note. Smells like a lot of pale malt colored with a handful of black malt.
The flavor follows suit, with some pale malt sweetness and hints of dark-kilned malts, but not much in the middle. It’s rather estery as well.
Overall, it just lacks the crispness and clean malt and hop profiles that make German beers so great.

Medium amber color. Medium carbonation and a soft mouthfeel. Caramel notes cut with a slightly tart/bitter finish. Pleasantly balanced, in a malty kind of way. Hint of vanilla?

This pours a very nice redish brown with a minimal head. The beer is very fizzy and tastes mostly of malts.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 12 oz bottle pours a dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma - Sweet toffee malt with a hint of iron metal and fruit. It has a good malt flavor with a slightly sweet finish which I enjoyed.

Bottle purchased at Consumer’s Beverages Niagara Falls. Pours a reddish brown with a white head. Islands of lacing here and there. Wouldn’t say I’m getting much in the scent department. Taste is light, sweet. There’s a little grain in there. Tiny bit bitter on the finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 5000 (4107) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Bottle:   Translucent amber, slight copper tinge, large frothy head, spotty lacing, lively carbonation.
Looks somewhat similar to the Leinenkugels Oktoberfest I had just before this.   Soft malty nose, very faint
hay/straw and even some caramel.   Somewhat of a dusty malty start, very soft sweetness.   Backside is a
little sticky, somewhat hangs out on the tongue.   Nothing off about this one, just light and perhaps a bit aged
in his nose and on the tongue (the musty/dusty part).   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Yeah, just a pale
malty beer with some flavor that is just enough to make it interesting, but not enough to make it memorable.

It poured a clear orange color with a small beige head. The aroma was of toasty malt and caramel. The flavor was mostly caramel with a hint of hops.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Heathen (1243) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - NOV 3, 2011
THOUGHTS: Slightly better than I was expecting. Nice, malty beer, but not very complex. A little thin in the body and slightly cloying by the end. The aroma was a little artificial and overly sweet. It needs more balance.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured clear, dark, brownish red that sort of looked like root or birch beer with an average to large, creamy, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and left good lacing. The aroma had light to moderate dark bread, toasted bread and caramel; and hints of vanilla and cola. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and ever so slightly sour; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, slightly sour and slightly bitter with a short to average duration. There was caramel, molasses, some grain, slight brown sugar, cookie, slight vanilla, a little apple, slight grassy hops, slight metallic hops and dark bread. The light to medium body was like watery syrup with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic finish.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a clear nut brown with a small bit of white head. Aroma of caramel malt. Taste is lightly bitter. Taste of caramel and some roasted nuts. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, pretty good. I would drink this again.
