Not much to this one, but not bad either. Pours to a pale reddish-orange, with medium off-white head that lingered a hile then dissipated to okay lacing. Aroma was slightly on the malty sweet side, but really couldn’t detect much. Mouthfeel was slightly tingly, and the flavor was an okay blend of dark fruits and malty sweetness. This all led to a finish that was slightly sweet and chewy, though the alcohol never did make itself known. A pretty decent session beer, and one of the better from JW Dundee, though that dosen’t take much.

Bottle from variety pack. Amber color with small white head. Aroma was weak. Flavor had light hops and malt. Strange overall

Very average offering. I did finish the bottle, so it couldn’t be that bad. You do feel the alcohol, which is surprising at 6.2%. Very American (and that is not a good thing in this case!).

Bottle, a decent amount of light malts. With little hops. Tastes like many average Euro lagers. Sllight metallic hops, nothing special what so ever. But hey look who brewed it.

Pours a pale copper color with a small, thin white head which disipates quickly. a Touch of hops in the boquet with a slight malt aroma.Slightly bitter with a corny sweet back ground on a light to medium mouth feel. Nothin special but not bad for a mass produced beer I prefer their amber ale.

Similar pour to the jw pale ale except lighter in color - like a light golden/orange with similar sudsy head...disappears fast. Smells like pee on grass. Sweet hops... too sweet... like sour almost...somwhat foul

Rated 8/24/06: Best offering from JW Dundee’s yet, although that doesn’t mean it’s great. Little aroma, but I was able to detect some solid maltiness. Pour is a light to medium copper color with an impressive white head and good lacing. Full mouthfeel bordering on the creamy side, nice clean finsih with an alcohol kick. Flavor is solid, has that strong malt content that a bock should clearly have, this one is more on the calmer blander side for this style but it is enjoyable. The alcohol kick is there in the taste as well which I have always liked in a brew, decent beer to knock back a couple quick ones on. Overall enjoyable but still not impressive from a mediocre brewery.

God and yellow with a lasting white head. Aromas of pizza crust and must. Sweet flavors: brown sugar, floral hops, and some pine. Shortish finish and some biting bitterness. Somewhat thin mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle from the new variety pack. Foamy white head, light gold/amber color with not a great deal of aroma. It’s got a fuller mouthfeel than you might expect, and as I’ve come to learn about JWD brews, this is a bit of a pleasant surprise. They are geographically close by therefore easy to come by, and very modestly priced... and better than the average beer. I was very pleased with the porter, and now I find this latest seasonal equally good. Not overhopped, not overpowering, a nice spring/summer lager with more flavor than the average lager. Is it a bock? To be honest, I’ve not enough experience with that style to make a qualified call. But I’ll say that I do like this, and I always like a more full bodied, flavorful beer. For the price, it’s well worth it.

Kinda stinky. There’s a hint at melanoidiny malts, but also some sort of buttered corn note, alongside some higher alcohols, enough to make me think of crummy malt liquor. Gold, leaning toward the dark side, with a medium sized, fast, webby fake looking head. Bready and sweet, heavy, near cloying, with a mild astringency and mild corn. Some sulfur as well. Much more like a european strong lager (aka euro malt liquor) than a heller bock.
