2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle, a decent amount of light malts. With little hops. Tastes like many average Euro lagers. Sllight metallic hops, nothing special what so ever. But hey look who brewed it.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a pale copper color with a small, thin white head which disipates quickly. a Touch of hops in the boquet with a slight malt aroma.Slightly bitter with a corny sweet back ground on a light to medium mouth feel. Nothin special but not bad for a mass produced beer I prefer their amber ale.

Similar pour to the jw pale ale except lighter in color - like a light golden/orange with similar sudsy head...disappears fast. Smells like pee on grass. Sweet hops... too sweet... like sour almost...somwhat foul

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated 8/24/06: Best offering from JW Dundeeís yet, although that doesnít mean itís great. Little aroma, but I was able to detect some solid maltiness. Pour is a light to medium copper color with an impressive white head and good lacing. Full mouthfeel bordering on the creamy side, nice clean finsih with an alcohol kick. Flavor is solid, has that strong malt content that a bock should clearly have, this one is more on the calmer blander side for this style but it is enjoyable. The alcohol kick is there in the taste as well which I have always liked in a brew, decent beer to knock back a couple quick ones on. Overall enjoyable but still not impressive from a mediocre brewery.

God and yellow with a lasting white head. Aromas of pizza crust and must. Sweet flavors: brown sugar, floral hops, and some pine. Shortish finish and some biting bitterness. Somewhat thin mouthfeel.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle from the new variety pack. Foamy white head, light gold/amber color with not a great deal of aroma. Itís got a fuller mouthfeel than you might expect, and as Iíve come to learn about JWD brews, this is a bit of a pleasant surprise. They are geographically close by therefore easy to come by, and very modestly priced... and better than the average beer. I was very pleased with the porter, and now I find this latest seasonal equally good. Not overhopped, not overpowering, a nice spring/summer lager with more flavor than the average lager. Is it a bock? To be honest, Iíve not enough experience with that style to make a qualified call. But Iíll say that I do like this, and I always like a more full bodied, flavorful beer. For the price, itís well worth it.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Kinda stinky. Thereís a hint at melanoidiny malts, but also some sort of buttered corn note, alongside some higher alcohols, enough to make me think of crummy malt liquor. Gold, leaning toward the dark side, with a medium sized, fast, webby fake looking head. Bready and sweet, heavy, near cloying, with a mild astringency and mild corn. Some sulfur as well. Much more like a european strong lager (aka euro malt liquor) than a heller bock.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle- bought out of cheapness, and the fact that i havent tried it yet. Pours a very clear yellowy gold, with a nice two finger head. even bubbles. has a somewhat skunky barnyard smell, buttery malts, almost a popcorn smell, and some breadyness. taste is nothing special, on first taste it tastes like a macro brew, nothing that great, but it does have a few nicer characteristics, a nice buttery malt taste, with a dry flowery hop finish. maybe some sourdough bread in there too. It aint nothing special but it aint terrible.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, pours copper color with thin white head. Malty on the nose. Nothing spectacular flavorwise; slightly alcoholic bite, a little metallic bite moving into a sweeter finish. Not my favorite from this brewery.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 oz. bottle. Now, this does start out pretty promising. Nice malty beer smell upon opening, pours a nice brassy bock color under a thin persistent head. Taste is, well, malty, but it still seems to have been cut with corn or sugar. A little extra bitterness helps keep the sweetness in check. It rates at least "average" with me. I donít really have a handle on this style since there are a lot of American beers labelled "bock" that really arenít. Does have a dry lager finish, so Iíd say yes, it is a lager. The "Ale/Malt Liquor" designation on the back label is probably because at 6.2% abv, it is taxed as a malt liquor in some states.
