They must have updated the sticker on the bottle. Malty aroma, but you really don’t get that coffee and ash flavor until you try the beer, and when you do try the beer these flavors are very subtle. I don’t think this company was going for making their beers no. 1 in the world or anything, so this was expected. Black in color, with a thin off-white head i.e. nothing outstanding for a porter. Not a very creamy beer, but this beer isn’t watered down as their wheat beer was! The guy below me noted sugar. After reading his rating and a few others I definitely get that sweet sugar aroma, but not so much the taste. Overall, just a very middle of the road porter; this beer isn’t bad by any means, but I think after trying it once I am good to go.

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle no. 4123258081646. As it pours it has this sort of opaque ruby-red brown tone but when it settles in the glass it becomes brown with about 1/3 inch of foamy tan head. The aroma is like roasted malts, sugar and licorice. The mouthfeel is of medium texture with good stability and the flavor comes on strong with malts, caramel, and burnt coffee. A nicely brewed porter.

Bottle Pours a thick brown with a slight tan head. The head eminishes quickly, but laces well. Has a nice aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and caramel. Has a medium boby. Good carbination. Feels good in the mouth. Has a real hearty taste, solid and lightly bold. Has a decent finish. This is a pretty decent beer. I was suprised. Well done.

Strong porter here, nice touch on the combo of chocolate and malts. Its quite smooth and not the expernsive, a great beer for the recession.

Average porter. Dark brown in color with a thinnish head. Medium to full mouthfeel. Sweet roast along with some sourness. Other notes of milk chocolate, creamed coffee, light vanilla and syrupy caramel. Sweetness definitely prevails over the bitterness. Dryish in the finish, with a slight grassy-earthy bitterness, although there is also a sticky tar-like residue in the aftertaste. Overall, not a bad porter.

Malty aroma. Not a strong porter in taste but a very good one. I’m not one for a strong porter and this did me well. Chocolate and malt finish that is smooth not strong.
