3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 aletales (73) - , Oklahoma, USA - FEB 1, 2009
This porter had a nice dark pour with a slight head. It’s aroma was fruity with strong roasted malt accents. The taste was a rich roasted malt as one would expect from a porter, yet it lacked the complexity of some other porters I have had recently. It seemed a bit light on the palate, but it was very drinkable. One thing I have to remember is that this beer cost less than a dollar a bottle. Maybe there needs to be a value scale as well. If there was this beer would knock the top out.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a nice tan head. The aroma was roasted malts and chocolate. The flavor was light roasted chocolate malts, a hint of coffee, a hint of vanilla but a little watered down for my liking. Overall, average at best.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 cking (1175) - North Canton, Ohio, USA - JAN 27, 2009
Smoked peat and beef jerky scents backed up by a mild chocolate presence. Nice aroma just not robust enough to score higher. Opaque amber/brown pour with a nice frothy head and abundant lacing. Lighter in body than most in this style, bitter-sweet on the tongue. Finishes thin and gets a little cloying. Roasted, toasted malt flavors along with light coffee and chocolate. Slight metallic aftertaste, but fairly flavorful overall. This is almost exactly what I expected from this bottle.

Dark pour, light head, cute label. Sweet, malty aroma. Light, but well balanced porter, with a touch of coffee flavor.

12oz bottle. The best brew I’ve had from High Falls thus far. Pours a deep brown with a this beige ring. Light nose of coffee and toasted malts. Flavor was coffee, finish was light and quick.

Pours deep brown garnet with a creamy 3 finger chocolate milk head that has somewhat poor retention. Aroma is roast, sweet chocolate, vanilla, a little mild coffee. Flavor is roast, stale chocolate, old coffee and a little char. FInish is ashy, dry and bitter cocoa. Body is really too thin for the flavor profile, somewhat under carbonated.
