Pours a dark brownish black colour with a small tan head. Rich dark fruits, caramel and bread flavors. Aroma was pleasent, nutty, dark chocolate and a little wood.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 SuperDave (1934) - Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA - AUG 9, 2008
Deep brown pour with red highlights and a tight foamy tan head that lasted throughout. Aroma and flavor dominated by roasted caramel malts and coffee. Palate is a bit thin, but still smooth. Not bad for a six pack porter.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Imaena (259) - Portland, Maine, USA - AUG 1, 2008
Bottle Bangor. Fine head that dropped out quickly. Typical porter profile just watered down and flatened out. Boring if you really appreciate the style.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hotstuff (3213) - Indiana, USA - JUL 31, 2008
Bottle. Small fizzy tan head that mostly diminished, one ring of lacing, transparent, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and a reddish brown hue. The aroma was malty, burnt, roasty, hint of hops, and coffee. The flavor was malt, burnt, semi-roasty, and some coffee. Smooth mouthfeel and medium bodied. Quaffable, easy to drink, nothing truly special IMO and ended up being a rather boring beer to drink and rate.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 coldbrewky (1119) - Saugerties, New York, USA - JUL 27, 2008
Bottle: Deep brown with thick dense semi rocky head that slowly dissipates. Sticky lacing that turned out to be quite pretty at the end of the glass. Nose is lightly malty but is mostly a thin caramel. Body is light ++ and mimics the nose of highly quaffabel light crystal malts with a bit of chocolate and a bt of black pat thown in for kiks. Hard to believe that it is 6.5%. A lightly toasted finish. A solid porter that does not stand out from the crown but is enjoyable none the less.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Homebrewerguy (298) - Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2008
From their new craft case and now simply called Dundee; This is a very fine porter with a nice roasted malt aroma and flavor that is not overpowering, still a bit lite as porters go, but it’s well balanced and tasty enough to deserve another. Good going Dundee.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sparky (2128) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JUL 25, 2008
Bottle. Pours a deep clear reddish brown with 3 finger tan head and decent lacing. Nose is roasted malt, cocoa and mild coffee. Taste is dry powdered cocoa, mild coffee and some bitter hops in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Not great, but not too bad. Flavors get weird as it warms – drink it cold.
