2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerbomb (173) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 26, 2007
Pours almost black-smells very average, some distinct sweet nutty roastiness. flavor has some earthy coffee maltiness to it but is pretty bitter and burnt tasting- carbonation increases the bitter bite. palate fades fast and leaves only bitterness. still, a decent beer at a good price but stegmaier destroys this in both of those catagories.

Found this one on draught in Champaign, Illinois. Very dark brown, opaque pour with a thin, tan head. Nose of roasted almonds, chocolate and kopi manis. Taste is burnt, like coffee that’s been on the burner too long, difficult to drink. A courageous brew from one of my favorite brewers, but this was a bit strong for my palate. Finished all over the place, a bit bitter, a bit sour. Not sweet. I’ve had better porters.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 unclemattie (3352) - Georgia, USA - JAN 12, 2007
Bought a variety 12pk this was in it. Very dark black color. Foamy khaki colored head. appearance is pleasant. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt. Tastes of burnt malt. not very balanced. Bitterness in the finish brings more of the burnt flavors out. very non existent palate.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jb (1601) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 6, 2007
Smell of mostly chocolate malt. A little coffee and roasted grain. Nice reddish brown and a thick tan head. Flavor is also predominately the chocolate malt. Could maybe use a bit of cellaring. Not one of my favorite porters, but from genny, this is a good effort.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 OhioDad (2491) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2006
12oz bottle from the mixed pack - Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head that stays well and laces some. Aromas of light roasted malts, coffee and slight chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee, slight chocolate. Not very robust though.. Flavors all seem muted. Palate is medium bodied and a little on the watery side. Pretty average all around as are most of their beers.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 gwpom (285) - Akron, New York, USA - DEC 29, 2006
12 oz bottle. First time I’ve tried this porter (or seen it, for that matter). The brewery is just down the road in Rochester, and JW is the local ’cheap’ beer around here (except for Jenny, but don’t get me started on that). I like the Honey Brown, and was glad to see they have a porter, as that’s my fav flav. Tall tan head, the flavor is a bit watery, and I’m slightly disappointed. But there are two more bottles in the variety pack and I may rerate it after trying it a bit more. 6.5 ABV is always nice.
2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - DEC 27, 2006
Pours a watery brown, head is poorly formed. Aroma is unpleasant, the hops causing an acidic vomit/spoiled milk smell. Taste is typical porter (can’t believe its 6.5%), a little too sweet and malt-centric but drinkable. Nothing exciting here.
1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 cheapdark (2962) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 22, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2006 Brown 12 oz bottle with twist off cap. Pours dark brown, almost black, in my steeler stein. Nice small creamy head that makes me want to touch it. Flavor is a bit roasty and heady. This is like guinness draft on steriods. Finish is a bit malty and it lasts for awhile in a bitter fashion. The only thing I really don’t care for about this beer is its malty finish, not as bad a La Rossa but it is a bit offensive. However, you would never know this is 6.5% beer from the taste, it is much too smooth.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 rdelljh (141) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 18, 2006
Tan head, very dark brown color, aroma of roasted chocolate. Taste is slightly bitter enhanced by a slight sweetness. Nice coffee notes in the body, some roast. Smooth, but finishes rather sweet and a bit thin. Lighter body than a London Porter.

One bottle from BOTW. Poured a large tan thick head on a dark brown body. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Flavor of roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. A decent Portor from High Falls.
