3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NYHarvey (2153) - New York, USA - FEB 11, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2007 Courtesy of OhioDad. Yes I actually requested it! The aroma is very low intesnity...light sweet whipped cream and faint hints of toasted malt. The body is dark brown with hints of garnet and it holds a very nice looking two finger thick tan head that is quite lasting. It developes a lot of bubbles both atop or on the side or this will be damn near perfect in appearance.
<P>
Light bodied with the firstsip it is somewhat hoppy with a nutty chocolate fore flavor and mild roast. Comes across as a creamy brown ale. Gets fairly freaking hop bitter in the finish for an inexpensive brew. Seems to thicken up nicely as it warms and become more full bodied. The flavor is really pretty muted like the aroma, but what you do taste is decent if not good and it feels nice to sip at. Not really a great porter, but it is a fairly drinkable brew and I wouldn’t at all mind having another.

Originally reviewed: 2/9/10. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a ruby-tinted dark brown. Not as black as expected. There’s a nice frothy tan head capping it off. Dissipates to a ring around the edge; leaves some sticky lace on glass. Scents of sweet chocolate, roasted malts, some faint coffee, and minerals.
The body is crisp and leaning towards harsh with a moderate-to-high amount of carbonation. This could be smoothed out just a tad. Flavors of roasted coffee beans right away, but there’s an odd metallic flavor finishing out the first few sips. This goes away after awhile though, and this becomes a decent Porter. Roasted malty goodness here. Not the best, but not bad.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with small off white head. The aroma is roasted malt and grain. Thin mouthfeel with a rich malt and light hop. Easy to drink a very good porter from Dundee.

Pours clear ruby mahogany with roasty dark malt nose and some molassee and hops. Tastes medium in palate heft, with roasty malt, cacao, and finishing hops. Decent.

Bottle, mix pack, thanks in-laws! Very dark brown, small white head. Solid roasty aroma. Taste is sweet, but no roast at all (what I was expecting from the style). Very drinkable though and easily the best of this mix pack so far. Alcohol not really a factor but warming in the finish. Call this the nut brown; it does not have much to do with a porter but it is a very solid beer and more in line with what I was expecting from the terrible nut brown!
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 shrubber85 (5058) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 4, 2012
Bottle. Smoky chocolate barley malt aroma. Dark chestnut brown color with large tan head. Lightly sweet chocolate malt flavor with a hint of hops in the finish. Watery palate. Decent but a let down in the flavor department.

Aroma puts me in the mind of cherry vinegar and molasses--almost savory. Opaque, light tan head,ok label. Boring, roast and lightly sweet flavor --a bit watery. Roast finish. Inoffensive, not going to blaze any trails. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Black....tan head.
Scent is coffee, roasted, just a hint of licorice..
Nice roast flavour...semi-sweet....marshmallows....
Feel is light and very drinkable.
This is REALLY very good for the price. A great, mild, easy porter.

12 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee . Taste is coffee up front then the caramel malts and some toffee comes through.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Chudwick (562) - Taylor Mill (KY), FRANCE - MAR 5, 2012
12oz bottle - pours amber/brown with rich tan head and decent lacing. Nose is roasty. Flavor is roastier than nose, and coffee. Taste is light sweet and moderate bitter. Medium body with thin texture. A modest porter: not too bold, but stylish enough. Long but modest finish. Caramel aftertaste.

Very smoothing the pallet! This would be a nice Porter to go back to again and again.
