COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark and Drinkable. A smooth and classic sweet stout. This dark rich brew is a combination of roasted malts and hops that bring the chocolate and coffee flavors to life.

Let’s say you up and decide to throw a wooden barrel of ale in a public display of manliness (I know, just go with it). How then to celebrate? Hint: You’re holding the answer. That’s right, a Dundee Stout. "Stout" is, after all, what brewers have been calling the darkest, heaviest and "burliest" of their ales since 18th century England. That said, ours is sweet, creamy and ironically, pretty light in texture. So maybe the tough part’s not lifting it after all. The tough part’s putting it down once you have. Go figure.

Bottle, deep brown color with fast fading tan foam, aroma is prune and balsamic, flavors of weak roast malt and cola

10/2/10. 12oz bottle. Bah, this smells miserable. Mild chocolate aroma with oxidation, caramel, blah. Generic crappy flavor. Meh. They should just stick to Honey Brown and stop everything else.

Bottle courtesy of pikapp327. Poured into a Murphy’s stout glass. Dark brown color with a tannish head. Slight coffee aroma with dark chocolate and malts. Some roasted notes also. Taste is a bit metallic, with a roasted chocolate malt flavor. Finishes lightly bitter. Easy and approachable.

Cola red brown with an inch of light brown head. Aroma is mild and mildly doggy with a bit of caramel. Taste is lightly roasty with tacked on caramel, like it was made from a flavor extract. Pretty weak attempt.

Bottle at LIC Craft Beer Festival. Dark chocolate pour with a thin khaki head. Aroma of nuts and dirt. Surprisingly low on the coffee and chocolate characters; more noticeable is brown sugar and caramel malt. Slight rum finish. Light body for a stout. Too light.

bottle sampled at LIC beer fest - tastes like synthetic honey and oxidation. There’s some dark malts in here and the slightest hint of roastiness. Not well make at all.

Bottle on 07/03/2010. Dark black body with a medium rocky tan head. Sweet chocolate and light roast aroma. Sweet roast and caramel flavor. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

Had the pilot for this from Rohrbach’s, they billed theirs as a sweet stout, and this one leans to the sweet side. I sniffed out some berries and chocolate and roasted/toasted notes. The palate was oily, but not exceptionally so. Palate was medium bodied, the appearance was brown with reddish highlights and overall this was a solid offering but the Rohrbach pilot was better.

Pours dark brown/black with tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Roasted malt flavor with sweet chocolate and mild bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. Another decent drinkable product from Genny.

12oz - Nose reminds me of Genesee: cereal sweetness. The body is watery, none of the viciousness I expect from a Stout. The flavor is there, like a dry stout with some roasted notes.
