Dark and Drinkable. A smooth and classic sweet stout. This dark rich brew is a combination of roasted malts and hops that bring the chocolate and coffee flavors to life.

Let’s say you up and decide to throw a wooden barrel of ale in a public display of manliness (I know, just go with it). How then to celebrate? Hint: You’re holding the answer. That’s right, a Dundee Stout. "Stout" is, after all, what brewers have been calling the darkest, heaviest and "burliest" of their ales since 18th century England. That said, ours is sweet, creamy and ironically, pretty light in texture. So maybe the tough part’s not lifting it after all. The tough part’s putting it down once you have. Go figure.

Last one (out of 4) of their 2013 spring/summer Variety 12-pack purchased in Syracuse, NY. Pours a clean dark brown colour with ruby highlights. The head is big, creamy-foamy, beige, has good retention and dirty lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate milk, mild dark fruits and hints of molasses. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, but mostly wet. The taste is mild (like all of their other brews I have tried), with notes of chocolate, burnt malts, fruits and caramel. Good as an introduction to stouts and like written on the front label below the word "Stout", "Dark and drinkable".

12 ounce bottle. Pours a reddish-black with a two inch tan head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee and some fruit. Similar, clean aroma. Has a decent, lighter body. Not as robust as what I wanted, but easy to drink and rather pleasant.

The Dundee Stout pours black with a soda-like head that is tan brown in color that leaves little to no lacing. The aroma is somewhat sweet with milk cream. The flavor is bread and cream with a touch of spice. Overall the beer is ok at best. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours almost black with a ruby hue and a half finger of off-white head. Aroma of coffee and burnt malt. Taste is light sweet. Coffee and chocolate. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty good. Probably one of the better dundee beers ive had.

The appearance of this beer is a deep, dark brown with a small off-white head, and the aroma is subtle with a hint of roasted malts. The taste is slightly sweet and slightly umami, which balance each other nicely, especially once the combination of the medium body, the thick yet slick texture, the soft carbonation, and the abrupt finish are considered.

More like a porter than a stout--none of the smokier or bitter-ish notes that would characterize say, a Guinness. A tad sweet, but not cloying like a Budweiser. A pleasant enough beer that could be enjoyed with summertime activities.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2014 Opaque Black With Shades of Red, Medium Small Head, Good Retention, Decent Lacing. Faint Chocolate, Roasted Malt Aroma. Toasted Malt, Faint Sweet Chocolate, Vanilla, Slightly Sour Finish. Rather Thin although It has Some Creaminess to It. Rather Decent, Easy To Drink And Enjoyable. Probably one of he better Ones from Dundee Lineup.

Bottle: pours a very dark mahogany with a light tan head, that dissipates very quickly, It’s aromas are nothing fancy... sweetish maltiness, with a slight soy saucy sorta scent going on in the background. The flavor is a bit boring... sweet... not nearly as roasty as I was hoping for. It’s not something I would pour out, but not something I would ever hunt down, to drink again.

Calling this a stout is quite generous. Smells like Budweiser. It looks dark and has nice lacing but that's where it ends. I'm not sure I'll finish it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
