COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark and Drinkable. A smooth and classic sweet stout. This dark rich brew is a combination of roasted malts and hops that bring the chocolate and coffee flavors to life.

Letís say you up and decide to throw a wooden barrel of ale in a public display of manliness (I know, just go with it). How then to celebrate? Hint: Youíre holding the answer. Thatís right, a Dundee Stout. "Stout" is, after all, what brewers have been calling the darkest, heaviest and "burliest" of their ales since 18th century England. That said, ours is sweet, creamy and ironically, pretty light in texture. So maybe the tough partís not lifting it after all. The tough partís putting it down once you have. Go figure.

Alright, from the 2012 Summer Variety Pack - Iíll admit it... Iím biased due to the fact that I and my gf Nancy were sampling this after a fine Roller Derby game and it was accented by "Buffalo Trace Chocolates", which heightened the stoutís cocao-like taste. This is a fine, though very effervescent stout, and at an affordanle price... GO DUNDEE!

Bottle from sampler. Dark pour and medium head. Malty dark taste and medium heavy mouthfeel. Sweet aftertaste which bodes well for this. Good stout overall. ---Rated via my mouth

Bottle from summer variety pack. Poured into glass dark brown, tan head. Aromas of smokey, chocolate, coffee and general roasty maltiness. Taste is decently complex but refreshingly light. Drinkable (per their curious label).

Dark brown color. No transparency. Very thin brown head that fades fast. Floral aroma. Hits the nose well. Some smokiness in the smell. Flowery start. Medium body. Low carbonation. Smooth. Slight bitterness at the end. Overall good balance of flavors. Not overly complicated. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma has toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a bit of earth. The appearance is black with a small head. The taste is like the aroma and mild. The palate is thin. Overall itís very drinkable but also forgettable. I like the silly commercial description "dark and drinkable." I am tickled to know the brewer wants to inform us this beer is drinkable as compared to... maybe their other beers?

The aroma is a little rubbery with burnt malt, chocolate, burnt coffee, and a touch of earth. The appearance is dark brown with a large tan head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin for a stout. Overall this is not horrible but itís darn close. It just seems like there are cheap ingredients in here. I am not a fan at all.

Pours reddish -black with small, off white head. Scent is faint....chocolate/coffee malt. Taste is very weak...flat...like a worn out porter and cola mix. The flavour is not bad, but there is no action to it. Itís east drinking and smooth, but just.....nothing..... It would be weak if it were labeled a porter, and itís more so as a stout.. Taste is good, though, just too flat and dull.

Requisite roastiness, full body and chocolatey malt backbone are here in spades. A bit of dull grassy hops creep into the finish. What is missing is carbonation. Too soft on the palate. Holds little head. Kind of like flat Coke mixed with Hersheyís Special Dark. Skip it.

Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a Coca Cola head. Aroma is maple syrup and vanilla. Taste is sweet roasted malt, more maple syrup, vanilla and caramel. Seems to be well balanced, and it is "drinkable" as the description states, but I donít think itís stout-like at all. No burnt malt bitterness and too thin in texture, but it is pleasant enough.
