COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark and Drinkable. A smooth and classic sweet stout. This dark rich brew is a combination of roasted malts and hops that bring the chocolate and coffee flavors to life.

Letís say you up and decide to throw a wooden barrel of ale in a public display of manliness (I know, just go with it). How then to celebrate? Hint: Youíre holding the answer. Thatís right, a Dundee Stout. "Stout" is, after all, what brewers have been calling the darkest, heaviest and "burliest" of their ales since 18th century England. That said, ours is sweet, creamy and ironically, pretty light in texture. So maybe the tough partís not lifting it after all. The tough partís putting it down once you have. Go figure.

Calling this a stout is quite generous. Smells like Budweiser. It looks dark and has nice lacing but that's where it ends. I'm not sure I'll finish it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from variety pack. Dark brownish black pour. Nose was roasty dark malt, some charred notes. Tastes dark malty, thin in body, with some off charred notes.

Dundee Stout insulted my mother and made inappropriate advances to my sister. I urge you not to welcome it into your home/glass/mouth/stomach. This beer canít even manage to look presentable - thereís little head and the body looks weak. (The label art was creepy, too.) Thereís a cloying cream aroma from the malt that made my stomach turn. I have to give some credit to the flavor for being different (Iím really reaching for something positive to say), but the balance is totally unrefined. It starts off being too sweet and ends with soy sauce umami flavor that seems out of place and overly strong. Donít get this stout. Just donít.

Bottle. A- Sweet, cocoa, malty. A- Black color, dark liquid, minimal tan head. T- Cocoa, chocolate, malty, sweet. P- Medium body, thin texture, high carbonation, sweet finish. O- This was the oddest stout Iíve ever had. Then again, all Dundee beers defy normality and not in a good way. A strange sweetness swept over my palate and left me wondering what the hell I was drinking.

Bottle from a sampler. Pours an opaque dark brown with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Taste is pretty weak, watered down version of the nose.

Pours a deep black with a large tan had. Aromas of cooked garbage. Taste is dark fruit infused garbage. Flavors of garbage. Finishes on a garbage note. No.

I didnít have high expectations for this beer but it suprised me. Dark cocoa nutty aroma. Clean crisp light mocha flavor. Nice...

It pours a very dark brown/black color with a 1 and a half inch tan collar of foam head. This head fades quickly to a ring of slick lace that just slides down the glass as I drink. There are notes of roasted/toasted malt, caramel and black coffee. The flavor has a just off dry toasted malt character with a touch of bitter coffee and mild hops. Its mild sweetness in the background is caramely. The finish is quick and dry, with a smooth and creamy lightly carbonated palate.

Part of the Seasonal Variety Pack. To undersized snifter, it pours a watery, murky dark brown with which a trim, off-white head half a finger in length stood. Tastes and smells of caramel apples, brown sugar, powdered cinnamon, and Lyleís golden syrup. I wanted a roasted characteristic to balance this out, but, alas, my wish fell on deaf ears. Thin mouthfeel; unappealing.

Just doesnít fit into my idea of a good stout, although itís not bad overall. Itís just way too watery and malty sweet without enough of the roasty toasty flavors.
