COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American style unfiltered wheat beer. Pale straw in color, our Hefeweizen exhibits a light cloudiness from carefully selected wheat and yeast. With its spicy wheat malt aroma and crisp hop finish our Hefeweizen is a light, pleasantly flavorful beer ideal for warmer weather.

On draft at Ortino’s Pizzeria... Appears a pale gold with a small white cap. Scattered lace is left around the glass. Smell is of lemony citrus, diacetyl butterscotch, and caramel. Doesn’t even smell like they used an American Wheat yeast strain in this. Please don’t tell me that they used an English, or American Ale yeast...say it aint so. Taste is of the above mentioned aromas...what the f is this? Garbage? Blechh. Mouthfeel is a lingering mix of pine sol, murphy’s oil-like cleanser, and other stuff that shouldn’t be in a beer. I don’t even want to finish this...and in fact, I won’t. Johnny O...why did you pollute your precious beer lines with this?

Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 9, 2006
The beer pours forth from the 12-ounce bottle a clear gold with a modest creamy white head; lace is a thin sheet to cover the glass. Nose is sweet with a hint of earthiness, fresh and clean, start is lightly sweet, grain presence adequate, top light in feel. Finish is benign in its acidity, the hops apropos to the style, dry after taste, a drinkable beer on these hot Arizona summer days.

On tap at Ortinos Pizza. Pours a hazy orange amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, light citrus (very light), very artificial smelling in general. Flavor of grain, grass, sweet malty corn slight hint of citrus and metallic. No way is it a Hefe and it’s not even good.

Both on draft and bottled - in either case, not a bad beer, but also it has very little to do with Hefeweizen in terms of style. There’s no fruit, very little acidity... not a bad beer, and certainly didn’t offend, but also NOT a hefe!

Bottle. Pours a pale hazy amber with a lingering white head. A bit of citrus in the nose. Light body, watery with fizzy carbonation. Taste is slightly sour with some wheat and honey notes, and has a metalic quality. Crisp, dry, slightly spicy finish. Drinkability and appearance increase if you rouse the yeast.

One bottle from the variety 12 pk. I had it right after a practice 5K run where I just broke the 24 minutes for 1st time. (1 month of training) I don’t want my 8th grade daughter to beat me by too much when we do acouple races this summer. The beer had a nice white head on it and a slight lemon aroma. It was very enjoyable.

From a 12 oz. twist cap long neck brown bottle with no freshness date. Made an average appearance, poured a slightly hazy yellow golden with a foamy white head that quickly settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation. Didn’t have much of hefe weizen nose, faint hints of lemon and doughy maltiness. Just a light crisp from the malts, smooth, watery thin medium bodied mouth feel, poor drinkability. Watery tasting with some macro lager qualities, watery lemon and banana, a macro lager maltiness and dryish lager finish. Well, this is the worst hefe weizen I have ever sampled, a poor representation of the style.

This was a pretty decent hefe, but it did not have a fruity taste of some others that I like better. Still a good beer that you don’t have to think much about when drinking it.

Somewhat cloudy gold, whitish head. Nose is mostly toasted bready malt - maybe a little wheat - nothing much. Flavor is lightly toasted bready malt. no wheat, no citrus, no clove, no yeast. WTF? Its a semi-ok ale but no wheat beer.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2006 Far from a hefeweizen or good american wheat for that matter-aroma is really not good at all-cardboard and some acidic wheat. Flavor is a little better, but not by much-watery, metallic wheat flavor with slightly bitter, flavorless palate. Really just not too good compared to the other beers in their assortment pk, which still stands as a good deal @ about $8.50 but is brought down a peg with this selection. -=-=-=-=-=-=-I have to say, on a second run, I kinda like the hoppiness mixed with a little wheat--not quite a quality american wheat but something interesting and not too bad. ’craft pack’ still stands at an exceptional deal
