checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 17, 2009 Bottle: Poured a yellow color with not much head. The aroma was malts and yeast. The flavor was weak, some yeast and citrus. Mostly malts and unbalanced flavor. Overall, not impressed. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 10, 2009 I’m not a big fan of American Wheat beers, but this one seemed clean, refreshing and well made. Slightly hazy yellow-orange with a white head that actually has longevity. Carbonation was very lively. Light and crisp on the tongue. Sweet malt flavors of honey, grains and toast up front. Surprising snap of herbal bitterness pops up in the finish, balancing things out well. Overall, not a lot of depth, but no off-flavors to complain about. High Falls calls it a hefeweizen, but it doesn’t seem fit the style. It’s missing those typical yeast esters, for one. But, nonetheless, it’s a drinkable and refreshing beer. Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Feb 8, 2009 I rather enjoyed this wheat. I realize it hasn’t gotten rave reviews, but as far as I’m concerned, it can hold it’s own. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA Jan 28, 2009 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a medium yellow body with loads of sediment, and a fluffy white head with no lacing. Notes of citrus and grain in it’s nose. Flavor is a bit on sour side with a smooth finish. The palate consists mainly of citrus notes, but not notes of banana like you get with some of your better weizens. This wasn’t so bad; not vile, but not memorable either. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Jan 27, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed medium yellow with a 2 finger off white. head. Nose was of sour citrus and a touch of wheat. I’ve come to this conclusion that unless you want to try these beers for ratebeer stats then go for it, other than that, pick up something else from your local brew store. gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Jan 25, 2009 Got this one bottled in the multi-pack at Binny’s in St. Charles, Illinois. Cloudy, medium yellow pour with a thick, white head. Nice and balanced but lacking a great deal of the fruitiness I have come to expect from American wheat beers. Not bad. osu97gp (168), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with little head. Aroma is sweet wheat and a some yeast as well. Taste is the same as the aroma with a metallic finish. Easy to drink. fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jan 18, 2009 Pours an extremely milky honey gold with a 1 finger foamy white head that has decent retention. Aroma is wheaty malt, tangy yeast, and a bit of lemon. Flavor is weak wheat malt, bready yeast, a little lemon and a playful hint of vanilla. Finish is watery and tangy. Body is thin and crisp, I was really expecting alot more yeast by the appearance but this wasn’t too bad. It really lacks the complexity and velvet laced spicy fruit layers of a good wheat but also lacks much of the unpleasant and overdone flavors than many cheaper versions of the style exhibit. Still although refreshing and smooth, it is pretty lame as far as flavor goes, score reflects that.
