Bright chestnut. Strong coffee nose with little else. Motel coffee with chocolate syrup added. But you know, it’s better than that sounds. It’s a bit thin, though, and more malt sugars and body would bring out the coffee better.

On draft at Dunedin. Pours a hazy brown amber with a white head. Nose is chocolate, coffee, and some light roast. Flavor is similar- some malt up front and all the chocolate and coffee on the back end. Medium in body with lingering chocolate and coffee in the finish.

Damico (1402) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Pours dark black coffee in color with a big creamy sprinkly chocolate biege head. The aroma has notes of smoke, subtle coffee and sweet chocolate, light but pleasant. The body is silky smooth and creamy like skim chocolate milk on nitro at the brewery.

Draft at Brewpub. Poured deep brown in color with little to no head and no lacing. Aroma of strong coffee. Tastes of medium roasted coffee and roasted malts. Finish is fairly thin, but overall a pretty drinkable brew.

aroma is roasted malt with small reference to cocoa but still understated. appearance is cloudy brown, opaque at center, muddy spotty lacing and head. flavor is chocolate milkshake, sickeningly sweet. fudge dripping down slowly, however no grittiness. some bitterness can perhaps be attributed to java, otherwise absent. none of the raw roast found in the aroma. mouthfeel is cold, hard and flat on the tounge, harsh considering other attributes.

Draft @ Brewpub: Dark brown, thin head and no lacing. Nose of black brewed hotel coffee. The flavor is dry with coffee and roast. Finishes mild, thin body. Aweful coffee note, but good for the masochistic side of me.

cheapdark (2962) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 24, 2010
On tap at the brewery. Birch beer aroma, quite ineresting. Looks like a brown ale. No head. First taste is coffee fer sure but not strong in the way of deep black bitter. Coffee session continues, almost like many stout coffees without the terrible. bitterness. Finish is mild bitterness and coffee that lingers for a while. Quite flat on the palate.
