Pours a hazy brown color with a tan head. Aroma is fruity, honey, some roast, a touch of yeast, and floral. Flavor is honey, caramel, roast, fruity, some rye, and a bitter spicy finish.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color with a huge khaki colored head forming. S: Very heavy on the roasted malts with a lot of coffee aroma to the beer. Somewhat acidic from the roast with some floral and citrus peel hop notes. A hint of booze is also present, unfortunately. T: A licorice flavor is noticeable which is quite off-putting for a hoppy beer like this. Intense roast flavors with some dark chocolate. Rather lacking in terms of hop flavors, but there is a bit of citrus and pine. M: Medium in both body and carbonation. O: Overall a pretty weak beer. Not good as a black IPA or even as a porter/stout.

Pours dark, almost black with a light tan head. Aromas of chocolatey malt, spicy rye and dark fruit. Med to full bodied with the same flavors. It has a little sweetness on the mid palate and doesnít have much of that bitter flavor that most black IPAís have. It could probably use a little more hop flavor on the finish. The rye, malty and dark fruit flavors do a very good job of masking the 8.5 abv making this one very drinkable. Overall very enjoyable and probably my favorite beer put out by Dunedin Brewery lately.

Pours deep dark with notes of citrus. Significant lacing that drives a mouthfeel that showcases nuts, cocoa, spices, and a bit of hops on the finish. Excellent beer.

On-tap from the growler truck at the Hunaphu release... This pours a deep muddy brown but has some nice mahogany notes that give it some character. A light tan head shows for a second but is gone pretty quickly. Not the best looking black ipa Iíve seen... The aroma has a lot of dark fruits and molasses but is balance with rye that is very spicy. More rye shows than any typical black ipa traits. Ok... The taste also shows more spicy rye than anything, I donít get any of the hops that I am looking for. Some more dark fruits and a bit of chocolate. Too much rye for me but the alcohol is hidden incredibly well. Easy to drink but Iím not head over heels with it. If youíre in the area stop by to tick it but not worth venturing out long distances for.

Dunedin, Fl - on tap at the brewpub as "Black Rye IPA". Dark black pour, sticky khaki head, nice coat of lacing. Fruity, floral aroma, hints of spruce. Full-bodied flavor with some chocolate, slight citrus, hints of nuttiness. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent - yum!

Dark pour, nice head. aroma of toffee, caramel, roasted malt, citrus/pine hops, yeast. Flavor is really a good combo of dark malts, just enough hops, some light cocoa notes. I enjoyed this one.

Tried on tap at the Florida Brew Fest 2011 addition. It pours nice mahogany with garnet edges and mocha head. The aroma is roasted malts to dark roasted malts to dustiness as well as a moderate level of spicy rye like notes and spicy black licorice. The taste is roasty malts, caramel malts and a modest level of dark sweet fruity esteriness. Heading into midway a firm level of rye spiciness joins in and taking this into the finish with dark roasted malts and a sense of chocolate brownie lingering along with fading rye.

On tap @ the brewery. Deep brown/black pour with off-white and sudsy lacing. Aroma of musty malts, dark fruit and molasses. Tastes are sweet malts and then the bitter hops take over. Sugary caramel, raisins, floral minty hops.
