COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after a local band, this Scottish style Stout is extra mean due to the hefty helping of roasted and black patent malts combined with a generous helping of North Western Cascade hops.

16-oz. Thanks, Ibrew2or3! Interesting stuff. Pours black with a thick, surging tan head. Lots of mousse and occasional swiss cheese spots throughout the head, with plenty of sheets of drippy lace all over the sides of the glass. There’s a difficult to place sweet note on the nose....cherry, probably, with a bit of white sugar underneath. Body’s a little on the light side of medium. Some carb, but not much, and too much water. Chocolate and cherry on the mid-palate. Not sure why I miss the coffee on the nose and the mid-palate, but I am not finding it. It does make an appearance on the finish. Not too bar, really. Maybe just a few weeks of age helped this one?

22 ounce bomber, poured a dark brown color with a tan head. Aromas of malt, caramel, and roast. Flavor was much the same with the roast flavor taking over the rest, slight hop finiish and very thin on the palate.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown pour with smallish light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. More of the same in the taste with a little toffee also. Thin palate.

Draft @ Brewpub: Black, tan head. Notes of roast and coffee, the flavor is dry, lots of the aformentioned qualities of the N2 and a bit more body but similar. Creamy, dry, roasty.

On tap at the brewery. Black with a dark brown head. This is nothing like the Dry Irish Stout. Smoky burnt aroma. Really complex roasted malty coffee blend with a bit of chicory. Harsher palate, but good roastedness to the finish.

kramer (3457) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2010
On tap, at brewery, RBWG 2010. Pours a flat black body with a small creamy light brown head. The nose is dry and roasty with some nice coffee and a light note of hops. The flavor is dry and roasty with lots of coffee as well, light bitterness. Slightly dusty on the finish. Medium bodied with light, slightly fizzy carbonation. OK, but it got a bit grainy at the end, even for a sampler size.

Tap at Dunedin at RBWG 2010 bus tour. Fairly dark black pour with a lingering head. Aroma is roast, black peppery spice, lemon zest, citrus, chocolate malt, and butterscotch. Flavor is cocoa powder, dry earthy spiciness, some mineral, metallic old orangey hops, dusty earth, mineral, cocoa, toast, nuts, raisin, and dry finish. Strange but not bad.

On tap at the brewpub during RBWG 2010. Pretty black pour. The aroma and flavor are both watery chocolate and coffee. The right flavors are there, just not enough.
