MIBRomeo (1883), Wisconsin, USA Feb 3, 2007 orangish brownish almost copper color lightly hazy a bit of a gusher w/ a full foamy white head w/ some light lacing. Light grainy aroma almost a touch stale touches of grahm cracker and cardboard not very hoppy. Pal is pretty avg. Flavor is a light boring ipa really.. just some plain grasses and a hint of pine w/ not a whole going for it. matta (1106), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2004 Updated: Mar 21, 2004Rating # 390
Yesterday a bunch of good friends and I drove up to the Dunedin Brewery. I had hoped that they would have the Mad Pipers IPA on tap, being that it is only available at the brewery on draft, my wishes were answered!! I actually won a couple free pints playing trivia against the barkeep, which made things even better.
So this was more of an East Coast IPA. Poured with a nice dark bronze body and a frothy ivory head, and draped the glass with lacing after every sip. The nose was exceptionally hoppy, but it was more of the pine and spruce chips than it was of the grapefruit. There were abundant suggestions of citrus in the flavor but it was more a zesty acidic peel likeness. Large presence of crystal malts making a nice caramel and pinesap flavor. Finished with a nice viscous and LONG DRY hoppyness, Pretty damn GOOD IPA, I just wish it was bottled so I could share it with you all! MMM...Beer (385), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Nov 27, 2003 This is definitely one to try. It's basically the Pipers Pale Ale but dry hopped. In other words it has the same hop intensity and smooth palate, but on a whole new level. Great brew, and that's saying a lot coming from some one who doesn't like Pale Ales all that much (they are growing on me though; literally).
