2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - MAY 3, 2003
An otherwise decent brew was spoiled completely for me by a bad, cardboardy aftertaste. Florida is not exactly a center for brewing in America, but this brewer seems to get things right...sometimes. This one slipped through the cracks for me. Nice brown-red color and big fluffy tan head is attractive, though. The balance needs work...

I liked this a lot more than the Icon Red Ale. I have not been impressed with this brewery so far, but I am still saving the stout and the pale.

Bottled: A smooth, easy drinking beer. Had the slightly caramel malt taste that you seem to find frequently in reds. Pretty good stuff.

Slightly toasted malty aroma, copper brown body, hints of ginger in the flavor and a palate that starts sour and turns into a sweet, soft nutty finish. Fairly unique and complex.

Reddish brown, decent head. Milk like aroma with an extremely light smokiness. Palate is light and overcarbonated which makes tasting a little difficult at first. Settles in with typical red ale like crystal malts, lightly peated palate and very little bitterness in the finish. A little unconvincing.

Not sure what I expect a red ale to taste like, but this isn’t it. Red-brown color with a sticky, off-white head. Nose not too prevalent, but surprisingly smoky with toffee malts. Tastes like a Scottish Ale to me, lots of wood smoke and peat, plenty of malt. Regrettably a bit thin and undercarbonated, but this doesn’t spoil the experience. Still good.

almost a rice-like aroma. dark dark reddish brown color, lacy cream head. perfectly carbonated. rich, malty taste. roasty--almost like a porter in some ways. good stuff.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2003 I really enjoyed this fine product from the dunedin brewery. Red ales always taste good to me, but i really enjoyed this one in particular. Very smooth, flows well. A good beer to have when your kicked back chillin.

clean, not heavy even light, balanced, no noticeable after taste. A beer that could be sampled in a beach environment, not a warmer by the fire.
