3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2008
Draft… Lightly hazed amber ale with orange highlights and a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Fruity, caramel, mashy aroma. Medium-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and reserved carbonation. Big caramel flavor. Sweet and malty, but not cloyingly so, with a light note of black tea. Reminiscent of the original recipe for West Virginia Appalachian Ale (1992, first brew-pub beer I ever tasted) and Lake Tahoe Red. Toasted, caramel finish. Extremely drinkable.
