3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ibrew2or3 (4921) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2010
On tap at the 2010 installment of Stogies and Stouts pouring deep darkness with dark brown edges and tan head. The light aroma emits a sense of sweet dark chocolate and a little bit of dark roasted malts. The taste is really smooth and even a bit velvety from the chocolate addition bringing up dark roasted malts creeping into rich dark chocolate. Yum. It does pick up faint levels of fresh semi sweet strawberries midway and into the finish. The strawberry is so light that if I wasn’t looking for it I may have missed it. Nice stuff though.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 sebletitje (4394) - Enghien, BELGIUM - FEB 25, 2010
Tap @ Dunedin for Stogies and Stouts ’10.
Pours dark brown, off-white head.
Aroma mostly strawberries, light roast and hints of cocoa.
Flavor, light strawberry tartness mixed with the roasted/coffee malts. I was expecting a more puree approach, the berry flavor was light and the whole tart aspect of the berries just wasn’t blending well with Croon.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 HOPSHUNTER (741) - Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 22, 2010
Tap @ teh Brewery. Poured black with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, light fruit, and chocolate. Body is thin, mouth feel is watery. Flavor is mostly sweet with primary notes of roasted malt and chocolate with secondary notes of berries. The berries added a wierd acidity that was not pleasent at all. Definitely my least favorite of the Croon treatments.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 MeadMe (977) - Riverview, Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2010
Sampled at Stoogies and Stouts. One of three treatments Dunedin put on.
A: Pours a nice dark black. Tall tan head with some good retention.
S: Mild aroma. Roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee.
T: Simple aromas. Roast, real cocoa, mild coffee. There is a hint of berry in the finish that adds a hint of berry sweetness with a dash of berry tartness. Unique and pretty tasty.
M: On the thinner side when it comes to body. Nice carbonation.
D: Pretty good. My least favorite of the three Croon treatments. Still pretty darn good though.
