UPDATED: MAY 10, 2004 Dark brown with reddish tones around the adges. Okay tan head and good lacing. Faint coffee/chocolate aroma. Hints of roasted grains, smoke and prune. Thin bodied for a stout, good bitter and sweet balance, bitter aftertaste. Dry and creamy mouthfeel. While drinkable compared to their other offerings, still way below average for the style.

Another disappointment from this place. They seem to be completely clueless about what they’re trying to create. I also was served this at just above freezing.

Clear black stout with an off-white big bubbled head. Licorice aroma transforming into ashtray as beer warms up. Coffee and ashes in mouth, with lots of bitterness in finale. Decent body. Flawed. (July 31 at Indiana Microbrewers Festival)

Regular roasted coffee smell and taste. Milky and creamy, light hop presence, but too thin. Basic sweet stout. Presentation points take a hit when they served this STOUT to me in a PILSENER glass, frosted, with ice floaties in it. I didn't even realize there were floaties until my first drink, when I felt something solid hit my lips and tongue, and my immediate reaction was to spit it back into the glass, as if I'd just sucked in a bug. Pissed me off. To be honest, the stout was not bad, it was just average. Mike and Joe later told me about the brown ale, and so now I'm curiously wanting to try it in a Cave Creek Chili Beer way.

Served in an overly chilled glass. Perhaps their most flavorful beer. Dark, with a chocolate head. Creamy, smooth nose like chococolate candy, which carries through into the flavor. Some hops and a melted candy bar. Tasted more like an ImpStout than a sweet stout.

I echo Hennes rating. I purchased a growler for the Summer gathering, so everyone can taste this one. Very light all around stout, identical to the one you would brew with a Mr Beer Kit.

Really the only Duneland brew worth drinking. It has a subtle smoked fish tone to its roast, some solid oaty notes, and a creamy mouthfeel. I might be overating it out of relief that I found a real beer in the joint, but I did appreciate coming to this one at the end of the session.
