COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dry Irish stout, full flavoured yet smooth. Roasted barley flavours are nicely complemented by notes of vanilla and aniseed. Enjoy with robust meat dishes or on it’s own off the shelf. Contains a yeast sediment, store upright and pour carefully. Best served at room temperature.

Can’t say there’s anything wrong with this stout, it was fresh and well carbonated but not a lot going on in the flavours for me. A good stout but little to have it stand out from the others.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a lively brown head, very lively. Blackened malts, a touch of aniseed and coffee, dry roasty finish with some fruit acids. Very nice for 4.5%, but a touch gassy.

ASPETTO: marrone scuro, praticamente nero impenetrabile. Schiuma bianca e grossolana, poco persistente. AROMA: tostato, prevalenti caffè e liquirizia. Note legnose. GUSTO: tanta liquirizia, soprattutto nel retrogusto. tostato predominante. Secca al punto giusto. Abbastanza equilibrata, leggermente tendente all’amaro dato dal tostato. Birra veramente ben fatta (tranne che per la schiuma).

Appearance: nearly opaque deep brown with brown highlights, two fingers of fluffy beige head, excellent retention and chunky lacing. (4/5) Aroma: roasty grain, cocoa, vanilla, liquorice, coffee. (7/10) Taste: low sweet, moderate bitter, light tart. (7/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, dry moderate bitter finish. (3/5) Decent dry Irish Stout. Still a definite tendency to an overwhelming loose and fluffy head, though - the only way I kept this one from getting completely out of hand was an exaggerated horizontal and slow pour. Nice low sweetness, though, with roasty tones and maybe a hint of red berry tartness. (14/20)

Bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin. Pours close to black with a cream head. Nice aroma of cocoa and coffee. The taste starts with very light spice and a little red fruit before dry coffee and a little chocolate. Pretty decent.

500ml bottle pours black in color with a 3 finger light brown head that retains well and leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains, vanilla and chocolate with hints of licorice. Taste is a roasted grain bitterness with a light chocolate malty sweetness finishing with vanilla and hints of licorice. Body is a little bit light for the style and carbonation is adequate. Overall, a decent brew, but could use more malt.
