4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from the brewery -
Pours black with a tan head.
Roasty/chocolate aroma with hints of smoke.
Complex flavor with a mixture of coffee, chocolate and hop bitterness with a slightly smoky finish.
Light body, great mouthfeel.
Equally good as a partner with food, a session beer or a drink by the fireplace. As close to dry stout perfection as you can get

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
I dont know what I was expecting, but this exceeded anything I had in mind. Color was oil black with an off white to tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasty malty, caramel, butter, a slight hop nose. Palate is perfect, went down so smooth like a milk or lacto stout. creamy barley, almost oaty. delicious

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black Rock Stout pours pitch black with a creamy, thick beige head. The head persists and also leaves behind a coating on the sides of the glass. The aroma of coffee and roasted malt come with a touch smoke. The flavor brings to mind coffee, roasted malt and cocoa. There’s a hint of sweetness and black licorice in the background. The finish is dry with the taste of roasted coffee lingering behind. A thick and creamy mouthfeel completes the picture.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dungarvan brewery is proof of the genuine improvement in Irish brewing. Things are getting better. Big aroma for its style, roasted notes, especially chocolate, and a biscuity quality. The flavour is dry (as it should be) with chocolate and coffee, a trace of vanilla and a gentle tartness. A very decent beer

Light red tinge to the dark brown body. Oaty, chocolatey aroma is appetizing. Soft, slightly smokey body with luscious, rich milk chocolate character and a hint of roast late.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, from Bull and Castle, Dublin. Very dark brown, creamy beige head. Heavily roasty with tar and chocolate. Dry and dense, concentrated coffee flavour. Salty bitter finish. Feels more potent then you’d expect a 4.3% beer, and more alive and multi facetted than the more available Irish stouts.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled (thanks omhper!). Rather close to pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head, that leaves a thick nice lace on the beer glass. Aroma is roasted malts, some slight smoke, oatmeal and mild saltyness. Flavour is roasted malts, some toasted notes, toffee, dark fruityness, coffee and some mild "seaweedlike" notes. A rather pleasantly balanced stout with some slight bitterness as well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle with my dinner at Market Lane. Pours a charcoal colour with a big tan head. Coffee, dark chocolate, oak and a hint of red berries on the nose. Light chocolate sweetness with a good and strong smoked bitterness. Smoky finish, pretty lively carbonation for a stout, but still retains a full body. Lovely beer overall.
