Brewed with local oats from Flahaven’s mills and coffee specially roasted by Badger and Dodo, the oatmeal imparts a rich smoothness which balances the roasted flavours of the barley while in the background there’s a subtle hint of the earthy espresso flavours.

Previously 4.5%.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, acquired from Callans in Dundalk 03/07/14. Dark mahogany brown with a good sized light tan head that retains well. Nose is light roast, smoke, coffee, faint whisper of soap, caramel, cocoa powder. Taste comprises roast malt, earthy rub, dark berry fruit, coffee much more subdued. Medium bodied, touch of prickly carbonation - overcooked in this respect, semi drying close. Ok, nothing I’d revisit mind.

Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Hazy deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Fluffy airy palate, semi dry, fine carbonation. Tangy mild dark malts. Malteser centres. Light smoke. Dry grain. Dry finish brings earthy coffee. Lacks cohesion.

Bottle shared at chriso’s. Pours clear, rich amber with a creamy tan head. The nose has rich brown bread, chocolate, mild coffee. Light sweet flavor, some astringent coffee grounds, touches of coffee, dirt. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Toasty bread to finish, some further earth, chalky cocoa. So so.

Bottle from Culchiem - many thanks! The beer pours out in a deep black colour with low creamy head and medium body. Aroma of malt and coffee. Taste of intense malt, torf, coffee, espresso, chocolate and leaves. Earthy finish. Very easy and nice to drink with a light smokey finish. Nice and enjoyable beer.

Dark but thin in color, no head after the initial pour into a nonic pint glass. Aroma is of coffee(duh) but also of the normal roasted malt notes of a typical dry stout. The overall feel of the beer is the taste is fine, nothing extraordinary and nothing off-putting, but very thin and watery. Had better expectations than this.
