3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fruity nose with a spice interplay, really, really nice! Not so much brett upfront, but its dry palate from the first sip leaves no one wondering that it is there. Good bitterness, not out of place in a tasty beer like this one. Mouthfeel and carbonation are fine, nothing to say about them at least. Flavors of fruits again, not sure I would pick pomegranate as the culprit but they are obviously red. I would drink this regularly, even more so if it develops a little more on the brett front... wouldn’t that be great? Imagine a fruitier Orval now!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
earthy, musty, estery aroma. a little oxidation (it’s an old bottle). very murky medium golden color, huge rocky off-white head, that holds on. a touch of sweetness and a touch of brett sourness. a hint spicy with a touch of celery flavor. very yeasty. assertive bitterness in the finish, with a little alcohol.

(Rating #4945)

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Citrus zest, funk, wooden allusions and cranberry juiciness gel in this highly creative Saison-like creature.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A healthy head of foam sits atop the hazy straw blond.
-The maple syrup contribution can be imagined in the wooden flavors and light sweetness, but I would not have guessed it were it not written on the label.
-The citrusy component and incoming dryness combine for refreshing results.
-This one has matured well and seems to be ready for many more months in peak form at this point in its life. Early on it was rough and intense, but after 6 months or so it has bloomed into a cohesive Saison.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Blonde-ambré semble très effervescente.
Fruité. Levure sauvage. Effectivement très effervescent. Grenade. Je ne vois pas de sirop d’érable. Belge. Épice mais très subtile. Fine chaleur d’alcool. Finale assez amère pour la genre. Pas mauvais mais...

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
750 mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha, shared, cool, tulip. Cloudy deep amber with a big fluffy, peach-coloured foam. Sort of tight, oddly fruity, a touch of celery, sort of spicy, confused and weak. Medium body, loose effervescence. Tired, vague fruitiness, a touch of spice, vegetal, sort of a brown sugar note, not great; off dry with light bitterness and a sort of oxidized fruit finish. Not successful.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle… Cloudy peach-colored ale with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet is farmhouse spicy and doughy. Medium-bodied with airy carbonation. The well-balanced flavor is spicy, fruity and moderately bitter. Finishes lightly acidic and farmhouse spicy. Bottle courtesy of MartinT!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: A wild golden Saison meets a sweet spicy xmas beer. Strange beer.
How: Tap at Vices & Versa, Montreal.
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a medium beige head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose has pleasant mix of spiciness, rustic yeast signature and red fruits. Taste is a bit sweet & spicy upfront (christmas candy cane sensation), some pomegranate, taffy, red fruits, notes of brett. Relatively dry finish. The spiciness is very much reminiscent of classic Belgian xmas beers (cinnamon, cloves, etc.). Full pillowy mouthfeel. A bit of a mixbag here. The rusticity and brett blend awkwardly with the sweet and spicy character of the beer. It is tasty and never boring, but ultimately feeling like a strange experiment. Certainly worth trying because it is not a bland beer, but it just didn’t work very well for me. And as usual at this pub, out of respect for the staff and their profession, when asked what beer I wanted I took a long time to answer, because they are waiters.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A complex and enjoyable saison, courtesy of Josh R. Fresh yeasty aroma. Big head, lacy. Peppery, funky yeast, brett, a spot of the pomegranate, and some of the sirop d’erable. A big above average mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Awesome. Can’t even taste everything in the list of ingredients but this is wonderful. Prominent pepper with some Brett and nice Belgian yeast. Pours cloudy orange with great head and lacing. Finishes a bit sour and a little astringent. Everything well balanced here. Thanks to Slovaksniper.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy dark amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spicy notes with fruity undertones and medium Brett presence can be detected. Taste is complex mix between some dry and funky Brett notes with some peppery yeast undertones and some citrus/fruity notes also discernable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Complex beer with quite a few different flavours profile with some ingredient shining more then others.
