COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Thanks for the bottle Tommy! Pours black with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, bitter chocolate and some smoke. Taste is the snap of hop bitterness mixed with roasted malts and smoke.

12oz bottle pours a thick looking, opaque black with some creamy, lacing, beige head. Could be an imperial porter or something. Nose is really nice, musty hops, pine needles, some dried lemon peel, toasted bread, malt, cocoa powder, a little wax. Smells mostly like a hopped up porter. Flavor is where this Black IPA really emerges, big hop bitterness, lemon, pine, soap, white pepper, raw garlic, chocolate, bread, brown sugar, a little burnt molasses. Medim bodied, bitter finish. Very nice.

On tap at L'Autre-Oeil. Pours a near opaque dark brown with a mid-size mocha head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is a rich roasty nutty malt and a nice resinous bitterness in good balance. Aromas remind me of a stout but taste is definitely IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Absolutely delicious and well balanced IPA. Bottle into tulip, purchased from Epicerie au coin Duluth. Pours a a deep, jet black with a nice creamy tan colored head. Nose of fresh hops, floral citrus. Great malt backbone balances out the hop character, making this IPA very sessionable and highly drinkable.

J’aime beaucoup.

Have to say that I always used Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale has my target point for judging Black IPA’s... well, with this black IPA and the Imperial one from Dunham, they have become the top 2 Black IPAs in Quebec, and solids top 10 on my world list! Just what you want for a "one beer night" or instead of a Stout to finish it. Totally enjoyed this one!

Nice palate of chocolate and bitterness. Feels like drinking unsweetened dark bitter chocolate with a nice american hops aroma.

What a pleasure to try this at Only Cafe, bottle. Pours black with huge lasting puffy cocoa head. Gorgeous aroma and taste of lemon and coca and lemon/grapefruit peel zest. The pithy bitter is set off by the fruity-chocolate sweetness and lemon fruit. Medium semi-parching palate and bitter finish with lingering chocolate.
