COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

[4632-20120731] 341mL bottle. Light citrus fruit roast aroma has a bit of a candy note. Black body with a long long-lasting creamy yellow mocha head. Bitter roast malt flavour has a nice long bitter aftertaste. Full body. Delicious, in a different way than the previous beer. (7/3+/8/4/16) 3.8+

341ml bottled poured into tulip. Pours a deep black-brown with some sediment and a finger and half thick light-brown head. Leaves some light/moderate lacing on the glass. Aroma is nice roasty and hoppy blend..."music to my nose"! I pickup some cereals too and the hops is quite floral. Taste is medium-bitter despite the advertised 95 IBU. Palate is seriously well-executed. Body is medium, with a creamy slick texture soft to average carbonation which enhances the creamy feeling. Finish is rather long (still not Stone-Ruination IPA-long...!) and of course bitter with the hoppy goodness that’s in there. Overall this is most likely the best single black IPA (meaning I’m not talking about double black IPAs) I’ve ever had! Honnestly Dunham has improved a lot. I was avoiding them like the plague before but now, I have to say: wow. This has become my new reference point in single black IPAs. Very, very well done.

Aroma: fresh high alpha hops, citrus with darker malts behind. 7+

Taste etc.: roast with dry dark feel. Hint of chocolate. Lighter bodied. Hop side nicely placed on top. Solid offering.

Smells like stout, tastes like ipa and thick stinging malt. Its a good taste of brew, stout with sting. Hops smells citrusy and some pungent booze. On tap at rhinos.

(Draught at Bryden’s, Toronto) Poured black with a medium height tan head, leaving small amounts of lacing. Aroma of very roasted malts, a bit of coffee, a hint of resinous hops (congestion may have blocked out some). Flavour rich roast, a little coffee and chocolate and pine resin hops up front, a little bitter but with a bit of sweetness too. The hops kick in after that though, bitter and matching well with the roast, finishing quite dry and balanced. Medium bodied, a little creamy with soft carbonation. This is a nice hoppy porter-style beer, maybe my condition made me miss the aromatics of the hops but the whole package is well done.

Aroma: Centennial hop very strong with coffee. Aroma is very hoppy with a touch of lemon. Appearance: Opaque black with creamy and long lasting brown head. Taste; Very aggressive hops with notes of lemon. Very strong bitterness with hop everywhere. Mix of IPA and stout. For bitterness lovers.

On tap at Brouhaha, pours black with a large tan head. Aroma of dark roasted (almost burnt) malts and pleasantly harsh hops. Very flavourful, with bitter hops and harsh, burnt roasted malt. Exceedingly dry, with a very bitter (but tastefully) hoppy finish. Most excellent stuff - a textbook example of a harsh, dry, bitter black IPA.
