Pours a huge head frothy beige head atop a deep brown body. Nose is roasty and citrus, but the flavour is too sharp in its bitterness. Pretty average.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of dark bread, toasted and mild coffee, moderate pine and resin for the hops, light dough and earth for the yeast, with a hint of charcoal. Head is huge, frothy turning rocky like tan whipped cream, with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is very dark, yet sparkling, brown. flavor starts moderately acidic and finishes lightly acidic and a lengthy moderate to heavy bitterness. Palate is medium, slick with a lively to fizzy carbonation and a chalky finish. Nice dark and bready Black IPA.

BeerAdvent 2013 Day 24. ...Merry Christmas? Pours Very Dark Brown, MASSIVE beige head. Nose is black pepper, roasted malt, grapefruit. Flavour is lemon, grapefruit, licorice. They say it’s a cross of an IPA and a stout but the soft peppery palate and appearance made it seem half Belgian, reminds me of De La Senne Zwarte Piet. Awesome stuff, I’m a sucker for this type of palate.

Craft beer advent calendar. Pours a very dark brown with a little light shining through, a bit of sediment, large long lasting brown head that leaves quite a bit of lace on the the glass. Aroma is roasted malts, sweet chocolate, coffee, earthy and a touch of pine. Flavour is roasted malts, resin, coffee, pine, dark chocolate, and a medium-high bitterness with a bit of harshness to it.

Bottle. Black with a tan head. Aroma is roasty with citrus hops and licorice. Taste is much the same, with a highly bitter finish. Full body. Good black IPA.

Rating #855 - December 24, 2013 - Beer 24 from the Craft BeerAdvent Calendar and a very merry Christmas beer this is. Pours a Québecois winter night black, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is a violent clash between toasted malt, and floral piney hops. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar sweetness that disguises any alcohol on the palate and rounds out the hoppy bitterness, and is beyond refreshing. Unreal hoppy black beauty.

341ml brown bottle, Craft Beer Advent Calendar ’13. . Black pour, very heady - lots of beige foam on top, good lacing. Nose has some orange peel with a touch of chocolate, pleasant but not forceful. Taste has roast and chocolate. Finishes with mild earth, chocolate and roast malts with some medium bitterness. A good lighter abv black IPA.

CBAC day 24.Pours a dark brown with a huge over carbonated brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, piney hops and earth... Quite pleasant. Taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa and then a big shot of piney hops on the finish. Bitterness is nice and borders on being astringent bit balances well with the malts. Other than being highly carbonated out of the bottle this is a great beer once it settles in a glass.
