341ml from Duchesse d’aiguillon.
Appearance : Pitch black with a creamy brown head. Some lacing.
Aroma : Rich and silky roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Piny and resinous hops. LIght spicy notes.
Taste : Silky rich roasted malt. Lot of chocolate, some coffee. Lots of hops too. Finish has more hops with more coffee. Bitter roasted malt with bitter hops. Resinous and piny.
Palate : Soft and creamy mouthfeel.
Overall : Great rich malt almost sweet but really well balanced by the generous hopping rate. Great persistent finish with big malt, coffee and piny hops. Mouthfeel is also pretty nice. Quite drinkable. Very tasty. Pretty solid brew.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dandeman (213) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 11, 2012
Aroma: Soft roasting notes with chocolate, coffee and vanilla accents. Soft and complex nose.
Appearance: Pitch black with large, light brown rocky head; fully lasting with fair lacing.
Taste: Notes of black chocolate and coffee are dominant and leaving a soft and enchanting bitterness that is not too strong. American hops are well mixed and giving floral notes to the general roast bitterness. A very good balance between roast and hop bitterness. A good porter.
Sweet porter fans, please refrain here.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mcberko (4044) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 8, 2012
On tap at Brouhaha, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of light roasted malt and bitter dry cocoa powder. Flavour is more roasted than the nose suggests, with lots of hops (not as much as the black IPA). Robust indeed, and well-balanced - through quite aggressive. Excellent stuff.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Eructoblaster (2441) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 8, 2012
Bottle - 341ml. Opaque black body with low carbonation and a thick beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate and roasted cereals hints. Its sharp hoppy taste is well balanced. It carries malty, brown sugar, and roasted coffee notes. Ends with a long bitter/roasty finish. Very well done.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Marheb (1166) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 7, 2012

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mathieuc (275) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 27, 2012
Creamy mouthfeel with a small but noticeable roasted malt character. There is a strange salty (?) taste that I’m not too sure I enjoy that much. Still, it’s well executed and balanced. It’s no Everett but I believe I will be coming back to it. If I had any word to say I would maybe adjust the hops a little. But I don’t, so... Go Dunham! You’re doing well!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 AlainG (616) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 25, 2012
Bravo! (309-120812)
