341ml bottle poured into stem glass. Pours a very deep black with a tiny head which quickly fades to good-sized ring. Aroma ivery roasty and coffee-like with some black chocolate notes. Taste is light-medium bitter from the roastyness. Body is medium with a thin-slick texture. Carbonation is very soft. Finish is slightly astringent with some slight bitterness, but of course nothing compared to their black IPA. Overall, a good robust porter, but I’ve had better. I’m thinking about Hill Farmstead’s Everett here but I guess the comparison isn’t very fair. Pretty enjoyable but it doesn’t stand out that much.

Bottle to tulip glass.
App.: Pitch black with a brownish lasting head.
Aroma: Strong coffee and black chocolate bitterness, smoked malt in the far end.
Taste: Hop comes in, herbal taste with the smoked malt, coffee and chocolate comes back in the after taste.
Palate: Pretty bitter, near astringnent, slick texture.
Quite enjoyable, could be a little bit better balanced.

Boutip (4509) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 6, 2014
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a dark brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of light dry roasted notes with subtle chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by dry bitter roasted malt notes with some subtle chocolates notes with light green herbal notes. Body is fuller than average with good carbonation. Overall this was enjoyable but not sure this should be rated so highly.

Tsestah (16) - Quebec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 5, 2014
Merci Dunham !

Quevillon (2407) - Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 15, 2013
341 ml bottle purchased at Peluso in Montreal on October 24, 2013. Black, small head. Strong aroma of crushed and roasted barley. The taste is much the same thing, but with notes of bitter coffee aftertaste of nuts. It’s really robust!
