Bottle. Very dark reddish brown, almost black. Lots of yeast sediment. Large light tan head, big bubbles. Aromas of roast, dark chocolate. Not picking up cherry in the aroma, but its strong in the taste. Sweet with a bitter aftertaste. Aftertaste lingers and leaves the mouth feeling very dry and claggy.Drinkable, but distinctly average.

Thank you Meghan for bringing back a bottle from your overseas trip. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a semi-dark red color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and then leaving a decent amount of speckled lacing. The smell had a super sweet cherry in front of some dried dark chocolate. The taste took the sweet cherry and dark chocolate to combine and added a slight tart element to it. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a decent sessionability about it. There was a mild soft carbonation about it to allow a smooth texture about it. Overall, good mild ale that I could down again, nothing over the top.

Cask conditioned at Birmingham Beer Fest ’13. Dark copper with white head. Overbearingly sweet with a bubblegum type cherry flavour. I really struggled with this one, finished off by Sandra who enjoyed it.

August 28, 2013 - hand-pull cask at Bree Louise. Clear ruby with a tiny beige head. Medicinal fake cherry aroma, some roast. Yay mate less unpleasant but ugly aftertaste. Light, still, slick, quick finishing with That ugly aftertaste. Pass.

Poured a reddish dark brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of caramel malt and the cherry. Medium body, the flavour is dominated by a chemical cherry, not very well balanced.

500ml bottle. Bit of a gusher this one. Ends up a dark brown with lots of head. Cherry really dominates the aroma and even though it smells a bit artificial I’d rather have it there and in-your-face than not at all. Only the faintest hints of powdery chocolate peep through though. It’s quite oily and slick on the tongue with a harsh, ashy, earthy roastiness. There’s also some cherry squeezed very thinly around the edges. This wasn’t very good, but I suspect it would improve a bit on tap.
