Cask conditioned at Birmingham Beer Fest í13. Dark copper with white head. Overbearingly sweet with a bubblegum type cherry flavour. I really struggled with this one, finished off by Sandra who enjoyed it.

August 28, 2013 - hand-pull cask at Bree Louise. Clear ruby with a tiny beige head. Medicinal fake cherry aroma, some roast. Yay mate less unpleasant but ugly aftertaste. Light, still, slick, quick finishing with That ugly aftertaste. Pass.

Pours a rich dark ruby colour, taste is obvoiusly of chocolate leading on to cherry, lovely palate, a beer I would gladly have more of

Poured a reddish dark brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of caramel malt and the cherry. Medium body, the flavour is dominated by a chemical cherry, not very well balanced.

500ml bottle. Bit of a gusher this one. Ends up a dark brown with lots of head. Cherry really dominates the aroma and even though it smells a bit artificial Iíd rather have it there and in-your-face than not at all. Only the faintest hints of powdery chocolate peep through though. Itís quite oily and slick on the tongue with a harsh, ashy, earthy roastiness. Thereís also some cherry squeezed very thinly around the edges. This wasnít very good, but I suspect it would improve a bit on tap.

Sample at the crown and anchor, Manchester. Decent creamy white head. Clear black pour. Nice cherry taste. Interesting brew .

Cask at Great British Beer Festival. Dark brown with ruby halo. Light tan head. Amazing aroma of sweet cherry laden chocolate. Wow. Vanilla too. Could sniff this all day. However, it's made to be drunk so into the mouth it goes. A bit thin, but there's a cherry taste - like those cherry sweets. And a slight chocolate taste too. Not bad really. Drinkable and novel. Finishes with a dry, pleasant bitter.

Deep cherry aroma, but not much taste other than from some hints of cherry.

June 2011: Brown 500ml bottle, best before Aug 2011, poured into a UK straight sleeve pint glass. This is bottle conditioned, so the pour is controlled. Even with a slow pour the beer produced a huge light tan coloured foaming head, below sat a dark, clear reddy brown body, no sediment, it remained in the bottle. Belgian Kriek like aroma, but not as pronounced as some, hints of chocolate? Only because the label claimed it was a chocolate cherry mild, which made me search for it with my nose. The taste was a semi-sour cherry mix with a very slight chocolatey feel. Well carbonated, the beer was almost too fizzy and lively, made me burp a couple of times: as I sipped trying to find the flavours within. Herbs and Spices (a mixed bunch) seemed to appear, then be beaten off by the carbonisation and cherry twang the beer had. Certainly different to any Dark Mild Iíve had before: did I like it? Not really, reminded me of Vimto too much! The beer lacked balance and body depth, could have been so, so much better if it had a richer, creamier feel (not that Iím a brewer).
