COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Really nice juicy citrus aroma. Lots of bright orange, grapefruit, and madarin. Some really decent malts, light, and sweet, they add a great balance. Medium bitter finish. Light piney finish, nice stuff! Great session ale!

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of citrus and hoppy notes is quite refreshing and enjoyable. Taste is a nice mix between some floral notes with nice fresh citrus notes and a light hoppy bitter finish. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with nice used of citrus hops.

Courtesy of SlovakSniper. Poured out a bright yellow gold colour with ultra fine sediment hanging around, a bubbly white cap that lives on as a rim and leaves a smattering of lacing. Straight up bright citrus nose, lemon candy, sort of grapefruit, some pine, deep huffs get me potency, resin, very appealing without being overhopped. Tasty and refreshing - citrusy with good long bitter lingerings. Pine is bigger in the flavour than in the aroma, smooth grapefruit, perfect sweetness and malts that balance very well. It is now in my belly.

So all of a sudden, to many quebeccers, this is just about the best APA in the world. I must say I still don’t completely get it. A beautiful white foam settles and remains above the pale cloudy gold. The nose one-dimensionally roams with white grapefruit zest and various citrusy nuances as fumey hop resins and alcohol whispers detract from the purity of the ensemble. The malts feel pretty sloppy in mouth, being flabby and just about tasteless, leaving the whole scene to the hops who quickly invade it with agressive citrus/resin that unfold into a brash, acidic bitterness, again brought even further in acidity with the pretty sharp carbonation. Again, alcohol is more than a hint in the closure. A poundable and straightforward pale ale, but one with more bitterness and less depth in the aroma than I’d like and rather dull malts. I like forward hops, but especially when they have a spicy depth and when the yeast ant malt contribute to a beautiful freshness impression. I still appreciate a lot how this goes away from the usual Quebec hoppy beer that is loaded with crystal malts, but in the genre, from a bottle, I’d rather have a more balanced Anchor Liberty.

6pack from la barik. Pale yellow pour with a bit of frothy white foam. Aroma of peppery american hops, quite piney. Taste is bitter, lots of hop juice flavors, pretty dry finish, nice and crisp. A bit too bitter on the finish, but quite enjoyable nonetheless, deliciously hoppy - especially for a quebec brew.

Drank on tap (20 oz) at Vices et Versa (under the place’s name), on April 21, 2011. Misty blonde, medium head. Light hop aroma of citrus, a little dry. Hoppy bitter taste of grapefruit, hints of sweet citrus, good bitterness. A good APA with bite!
