COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Aroma of hops and sour wheat. Body is a nice yellow, but there’s no head. Flavour is dry hops, with a slightly wheat detergent aftertaste, followed by a dry finish. It’s very drinkable.

Draft sample. Orange in colour with medium carbonation. Classic American Pale ale aromas of white grapefruit, flowers, and a touch of caramel malt. Florals, pine, and classic citrus notes continue on, but are somewhat blunted by some strong fat pale malt notes. Medium bodied, but with a smooth mouthfeel that seems somewhat inappropriate for the style. Moderate bitterness by today’s standards. Outclassed by the Nickel Brook Naughty Neighbor that my wife was drinking.

Courtesy of SlovakSniper. Poured out a bright yellow gold colour with ultra fine sediment hanging around, a bubbly white cap that lives on as a rim and leaves a smattering of lacing. Straight up bright citrus nose, lemon candy, sort of grapefruit, some pine, deep huffs get me potency, resin, very appealing without being overhopped. Tasty and refreshing - citrusy with good long bitter lingerings. Pine is bigger in the flavour than in the aroma, smooth grapefruit, perfect sweetness and malts that balance very well. It is now in my belly.

This is a great beer! Pours light orange with a huge foamy head and big clumps of lacing. This beer is possible 5-6 months old, maybe even a bit more which may explain the floaty chunks and the foamyness. Nose is piney and fruity. Aromas are pine up front, some light fruit through the middle with a more flowery hop finish. Tastes are light bitter to start, then some light fruit and finally a nice medium bitter finish. Mouth is medium body with lively carbonation. Really nice beer that I’ll re-rate again someday with a fresher example.

Rating #1059 - April 16, 2014 - 6pk from Keg N Cork - 5.5% Aroma is a spicy, grapefruity eruption right out of the can into the pour. Pours a straw yellow colour with a perfect sticky white foam, spotty lacing, decent retention. Medium carbonation, mild-medium alcohol warmth. Palate is a decent lemon grapefruit citrus hit, with some sticky pine resin notes, and a comfortable ABV - supah dupah crushable. Worthy of being my beer to cheer on the habs on the #drivefor25.

341ml bottle from Grand Duc. Batch 2 most likely. 2-3 weeks after release.
Appearance : Clear pale yellow with big white fluffy head. Extensive lacing.
Aroma : Crisp citrusy and floral hops. Very sharp and fresh. Freat malt with lots of fruits. Light honey, light yeast.
Taste : Great malt with citrusy and floral hops. As sharp and fresh as the nose. Finish is rather bitter but very fresh and crisp. Floral and citrusy notes. Other fruits too. Light resinous notes. No alcohol.
Overall : Wow. This is a huge surprise. Easily the best APA bottled in Quebec. Hell it even kicks the ass of all the our bottled IPAs. Intense hops on nose, very fresh and refreshing. No alcohol. Awesome fresh taste with a nice bitter kick on the finish. Some fruits seems to be coming from the yeast. At 6.5% with that much hops, it’s probably on the line between APA/IPA (comments ?). Anyone wanting to try this needs to seek this ASAP because it doesn’t seem like a beer that can hold fresh very long. Perfect summer beer.

A bit hazy with quite a big and lasting head. The aroma is dominated by hops with strong pine and zest. The malt aroma is like sponge cake. There is a bit of sulfur and diacetyl but not over the limit. The flavor is also dominated by hops. Bitterness is long and citrus seeds like. Not really delicious. The beer is still easy to drink and refreshing. I like lasting bitterness so I kind of enjoy it.

(170-210212/080314)
