Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with light black chocolates notes and some very faint notes of whiskey. Taste is also dominated by some dry roasted malt notes with some black chocolates notes with light subtle flavours of whiskey and quite a bit of residual sugar. Interesting but would have liked it even better with more pronounced whiskey and maple notes. It also seems like some of the harsher notes from the dry roasted malt clashed with the sweeter maple notes.

Bottle - 750ml. Pours an opaque black body with an average, lasting brown creamy head. Robust, complex malty/hoppy aroma with woody, fruity, whisky, and brown sugar hints. Its rich malty/hoppy taste carries roasty, maple, plummy, and cocoa notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Awesome!

750 mL bottle in trade from tom10101 - Merci Tommy! A bit of a gusher, but ultimately a beautiful pour, with as dark a head as you could possibly get. Sweet up front, but there is some bitterness from the roast in the finish. Not enough of a contribution from the barrell, and the maple is overwhelmed by the roast. Body is surprisingly thin. Nothing wrong with this one, but it is pretty one dimensional.

Noire opaque. Mousse très foncé. Nez: levure sauvage (brett). Vin rouge. Fruité. Boisé. Toast brûlé. Bouche: boisé. Grain grillé. Acide. Brett. Anis. Vin rouge. Café. Un peu sucré. Légèrement chocolaté. Fine chaleur d'alcool. Très sèche surtout en finale. Très bien mais très particulier. Beaucoup de présence de levure sauvage.

750 ml bottle. Pours a reddish black with a short lived brown head. Aroma is wood, maple, roast. Flavor is roast, maple, wood, boozey, mocha coffee. Finish is dark chocolate bitterness, quite pronounced. Port wine-like flavors. A touch of lingering spice, too. Strong body, soft, opulent, sticky mouthfeel, weak carbonation. I feel this product is crually underrated ; one of the best imperial stouts I’d had in weeks.

Black with a small fully lasting brown head and some lacing. Aroma is mainly of smoked and peated malt along with roasted notes, light boozy presence, sweetness and molasses. Taste is moderately sweet with smoked/peated malt, whiskey, molasses, light alcohol warming. Medium body. Light to moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Good barrel-aged RIS, not overdone. The whiskey add smokey/peated notes to an already smokey/peated RIS. Interesting, but not world-class.

(Rating #5014)
