Dark and roasty with a sappy and slightly sticky body, this dark Quebecker has an almost liqorice quality with an almost faint root beer type quality. Pretty good really.

Jet black, big Brown head. Intense dark roast, boozy, light dark fruit, soy coffee and some light chocolate. Highly bitter, loads of hops in the end, big pine resins, more intense roast. Boozy, and warming.

Bottle. Black with a medium sized light brown head with good retention and lace. Nose has lots of chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, muffins, honey. Flavour has roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, wood, light flowers and citrus, coffee, vanilla. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, filling sweetness, balanced bitterness. Dry roasted finish. Solid, really solid. Drinks all too easy.

Bottle. Black oily pour. Aroma of chocolate, mild licorice and roasted malt. Taste is bitter, with dry coffee, roasted malt, licorice and a really dry finish. Bit too harsh.

Les arômes et le goût de café et de chocolat sont bien présent, un petit peu trop d’amertume à mon goût pour ce style.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottleshare. Thanks to Danny. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tidy dark tan head. Palate is slightly soft and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Soft but bitterish dark malts, some roast. A little licorice and tangy aniseed. Whisper of dark fruits. Light semi dry finish. Rich. Could be a tad sweeter.

Bottle at Craft Clerkenwell, thanks to Dirty Danny. It pours opaque jet black with a small tan head. The nose is rich, bitter – sweet, oily, umami, rich vanilla, bourbon, stickiness and bounty bar. The taste is rich, bitter –sweet, toast, chocolate cake, vanilla, light umami, coffee grounds, warming alcohol and charred wood with a very dry finish. Medium – full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. A respectable imperial stout.
