Sparkling.

A Medium Dry Sparkling Cider - Dunkerton’s Cider Mill is set in the ancient parish of Pembridge, an area of farmland, woods and hedgerows, where medieval half timbered villages meet the stone market towns of Wales. From the earliest times, rural communities have told stories of fantastic and unusual creatures which have supposedly lived in their locality. The lush rolling countryside of North West Herefordshire is no exception. Here stories tell of an animal which has evaded capture by farmer and huntsman alike; a Black Fox. The red fox has always existed, but the belief grew that there was also a fox "as black as night, so that it might live in a man’s shadow and so never be seen". A favoured haunt of the BLACK FOX is.........the Cider Orchard.

Bottled. Apple and bacon like arom. Pours with a cloudy brown colour and no head. Dry and yeasty green apple flavour with some sharp bitterness in the finish. Medium palate. Good cider.

Orange coloured coider with a temporary white head and aromas of orange skinned apples. Mid to dry and only mild carbonation, but tasty for all that. Lovely stuff.

500ml bottle. Straw golden colour, short-lived bubbly white head and aroma of tart apple, woody oak, funk. Taste is apple, vanilla, woody, bittersweet with tannins & musty, barnyard notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry earthy woody tannic finish. Quite drinkable.

500 ml bottle bought at Life Restaurant in SOHO, Central.

Translucent light golden honey colour; Razor-thin head and residual soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Almost no lacing with fizzy carbonation; Fragrant and strong musty aroma of apple wine, with strong tartness, apple pie fillings, honey, wood, vinegar, yoghurt, cellar and tannic; Very light sweet taste of apple wine, with very strong tannic, strong cellar musty, potent alcohol, yoghurt tartness and strong wood; Light body. Watery and dry palate; Mouth feel is like a scrumpy with lively characters - mustiness is very attractive, tannic is very astringent by Cider standard but still taste good. Very woody barrel feel, very little sweetness, and subdued tartness. All topped with strong and warming 7% booze. Gooood!... Quite dry after taste. Tart and strong to mouth.

Comments: This one picks up where Westons Old Rosie Scrumpy failed to lift off - both the aroma and taste are dynamic and lively, and I just love that strong cellar mustiness as if I walk right into a cellar. Big character, tasty and very entertaining, I just can’t get enough of it. Great stuff!

Bottle from Waitrose. Misted lager gold with a fast vanishing tuft of suds. Big edgy strudel, Chewits and clove-sprinkled aroma; flavour awash with seasonal stewed spiced fruits- largely of the cider-making variety. Dry and sweet with engaging acidity and funk. Am I about to award a battery acid a 4?? A fine, fine beverage and one that could get me into a lot of trouble.

Bottle from some organic store for Melissa. Good looking cider that’s for sure. Think musky and dried apples. Then think massive zest. That’s the cider summed up. Really quite solid to be honest

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - many thanks to Josh. Pours clear gold with a few bubbles for a head. Dry apples in the aroma, some musty basement. Medium sweet flavor with nice musty dryness, semi-ripe apples - really tasty. Medium with soft carbonation. Lightly dry and funky to finish, more semi-ripe apples, some moldy hay. Delicious stuff. Super drinkable.

500ml bottle from Dunkerton’s Farm shop. An old favourite, dependably complex, with a dry, dark, lingering, farmyard tannic bite. Always seem to taste the wild warmth of a cider orchard in this.

50cl bottle thanks to Grace. Pours golden amber with some bubbles. It’s got more of the apple sauce thing going on with the nose - the taste confirms this and what is great is that there is not too much sweetness nor too much acidity. Overall, a great cider.
