mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia Aug 6, 2008 I want to have this beer’s babies. I’m currently basking in the glory of $14 bottles of this stuff and life is pretty bloody good. Despite its size there’s nothing too obvious about it, but there’s lemony hops, peppery yeast, vanilla ice cream malt and some gin-like alcohol warmth, though it really is ridiculously easy to drink for its size - I’d say it appears noticeably less boozy than the Moinettes. Very hoppy in an extremely low key way, if that’s possible. Everything it beautifully rounded, everything is in place, and it tastes as good as I recall it from Belgium. Love it. Even better than Saison Dupont. Snojerk321 (1914), San Diego, California, USA Jul 31, 2008 750ml bottle from BevMo Carmel Mountain. Pour is a hazy gold with a nice white head. Aroma is spicy and tart with sweet malt, citrus, lemon, pepper, and fruit. Flavors of yeast, citrusy fruit, lemon tart, funk, and alcohol. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bright hazy light orange with lovely bubbly white head. Nose is dough, yeast, slight woody sour notes, and some bitter citrus and white pepper. A little musty/dusty in a good way. Crisp, spicy finish. Lovely, lovely saison. plovmand (1588), Helsinge, Denmark Jul 29, 2008 On tap at Kulminator, Antwerpen.
Pours hazy golden with a good looking bubbly head. Spicy and yeasty aroma. Malty aroma with citrus and spices. Refreshing but not as dry as expected. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2008 Had at seattle international beer festival. Pours bright slighty hazy dark orange color with small film of white fizz. Aroma is of peaches and slight yeast. Flavor very malty sweet with dry finish. Very nice balance. BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 21, 2008 75cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex Winter brew, hazy, rocky head, very good shrubber85 (2832), Wallhalben, Germany Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Musty apple cider aroma. Hazy golden yellow color with an insanely giant head. Initially a slightly sweet apple cider followed by a musty, dry malt flavor. Dryness lingers nicely after swallowing. Premiere.
