larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Apr 25, 2008 Huge offwhite coarse shiny lasting head. Hazy yellow body. Sharpish peppery fruity aroma with softly metallic powdery yeasty notes with some barnyard. Intense dry-sweet yeasty fruity chalky barnyard taste with metallic notes. Bitter grassy malty banana fruit aftertaste. Very nice, but a bit too bitter and harsh. (0.75l bottle from BeerMania, Brussels.) tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Apr 22, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2009Apricot pour with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is sour lemon, barnyard funk, and some sweet sugary fruits. Flavor is masked well. Not as dry as the original dupont saison, but still very much to style. Well done. Alcohol is extremely well masked here. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2008 Meaty aroma, yeast bomb. Yellow golden with a thick white fluffy head. Flavor is bananas, light fruits. Breast yeast, some zesty undertones. Alcohol present, bitter caboose. Good, but not my favorite saison. surmont (11), USA Apr 13, 2008 Best beer of Belgium for 2007. Rich and with the flavors of natural strong beer. Has the power of a trappist and the elegance of a flemish triple. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2008 golden amber with nice head - taste the yeast, hops, vanilla, and fruit - very complex and enjoyable ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 8, 2008 great when fresh......light bret aroma....very nice body and tastes...well like a saison...but more so....everything is bigger...almost like an imperial saison.....maybe that should be a new style guideline? hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Apr 7, 2008 2005 bottle. pours a clear gold until the yeast bomb drops. it’s topped with a wispy white head that sticks a little to the glass. this smells like the inside of a barn... straw, dried hay, light funk, lemon, a little yeast and pepper. the palate starts lightly caramel sweet and yeasty then gets dry and bitter. dried spices/herbs, pepper, a little funk, lemon and a bit of alcohol on the finish. yeasty fruity aftertaste. there’s something very candy like in the flavor which puts me off... a bit too sweet. (i’ll give the remaining bottles a few years to fix and this will be stellar) medium bodied with a soft mouth feel and prickly carbonation...
