jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Feb 4, 2008 From the tap poured hazy dark golden color with very little head. Good warming fruity flavor with a lingering aftertaste. merlin48 (509), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Feb 4, 2008 750 ml corked and caged bottle decants a radiant golden body with an immense vanilla head. Head slowly falls into a beautiful meringue with sticky lacing sheeting the goblet. Quite the looker! Aroma of freshly sliced lemons and floral/herbal hops. Medium body with velvety carbonation. Taste is pleasantly complex. Dry and herbal, with notes of citrusy lemon, melon, white pepper, and herbal hops. Not the best saison I’ve tried but certainly very well done. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Feb 2, 2008 750ml poured in a trappist glass. DAlBV pours just like grapefruit with a minimal head. The nose is very minimal and has a slightly spicy citrus taste. The taste is a bit dusty and flat. There is a slight yeasty flavor and a strong grapefruit flavor as well. The palate is very dry and the finish is quick. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Feb 2, 2008 Draught @ the Dilly Deli. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a good sized white head that sticks to the glass. The aroma is candied malts, orange peel, belgian yeast, and corriander. The flavor is citrus, yeasty bread, sweet malt, dry finish. The 9.5 % is well hidden compared to the Scaldis I had just before. This is very drinkable whch is a bit disturbing considering the abv. AskForJenny (627), Ontario, New York, USA Jan 31, 2008 750ml - Cloudy gold, fizzy head, hoppy bitterness and acidic seltzer mouthfeel. Perfect balance - superior. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jan 28, 2008 This saison pours a cloudy deep peach orange color form a cork-finished 750ml bottle. Large sized, long lasting white foamy head, with good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma is fruity, spicy and floral. A medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity; lots of orange, green apple and lemon fruitiness give way to spiciness and grassiness. A little yeasty as well. A little hoppy for a saison, but it works, that hop bite balances and mixes well with the fruit, spice and yeasty. Lively carbonation. Hides the 9% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and nearly bone dry. Aftertaste is slightly tart. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Jan 27, 2008 750 ml bottle on sale at BevMo: Cloudy pale apricot color with a generous fluffy white head. Aroma is lightly fruity, spicy, and floral. Flavor starts fruity with over-ripe orange, a hint of lemon, a little green apple and tropical fruit followed by some yeasty spicyness and a dry bitter finish. Medium body is creamy with lively carbonation. illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jan 26, 2008 Poured from the 750 ml bottle into a Duvel tulip. Probably my best pour ever; the goldenrod liquid rises just above the Duvel logo and the head stretches 3 fingers upward to create a perfect convex cap just above the rim. Nice ample lacing too.
Smell contains notes of lemon, green apple, yeast, coriander, grass, vinous grape.
Taste evokes earthy lemongrass, straw, excellent spiciness, light breadiness, orange peel, unripe pear.
Mouthfeel is great, a very refreshing beer. Between thin and medium bodied. The alcohol is never really tasted but the warmth of it is pleasant.
Drinkability is wonderful, I had no problem polishing off the 750.
