UPDATED: MAR 21, 2012 Emana odore di cuoio manco fosse una borsetta. Citrica con un sentore di mentuccia, abbastanza speziata. Buona

Appearance: cloudy, creamy orange-gold, with a big fluffy white head. Aroma: spiced barnyard funk, with lots of slightly musty fruit. Taste: honey, pears, crushed black peppercorns, toasted white bread. Finish: crisp, tangy, bready, slightly sweet. Notes: Great saison. Flavors much like the traditional Saison Dupont, but richer and spicier.

Unbelievable. Had the III in bottle, slightly aged. Easily the best saison I’ve had to date. Complex, yet incredibly subtle. Not as bright or Spicy as many saisons I’ve had.

Hazy, burnt gold with big, foamy, fine-bubbled, white head / Musty, medicinal, nose of fermented tree fruit, grass, and herb / Medium body, fat and oily, resinous, with some acidity and mostly dry, good balance, and lightly bitter finish / Elegant, potent, cooked, flavors of straw, pear, passion fruit, soap, honey, resin, black pepper, and coriander / Flavors could be brighter?, possibly my bias, but an excellent brew.

Poured into a tulip. There’s a lot of carbonation in this one. I needed several pours to get a full glass. 4.0 A: Lightly hazed golden wheat color. Three fingers of frothy/foamy white head. Retention is good and a lot of the foam sticks to the glass. 4.5 S: Smells a good bit like autumn. Lots of barnyard funk, rich with pollen, hay, and livestock. Underneath there is pepper, clove, and corriander spiciness. A garden of flowers in this while being moderately herbal. Very complex and well integrated. 3.0 T: The taste is good, but not nearly as impressive as the nose. Surprisingly strong oregano-like bitterness. Not nearly as flowery as the nose, but about as herbal. Corriander still stands out, but less pepper and clove. Hay is back as is quite strong. Dry even for a saison. Bitterness lingers into the aftertaste. 3.0 M: Lighter body. Carbonation is a bit too abundant. Mildly creamy. 3.0 D: If this tasted like the nose, I would certainly be impressed. It’s still a good beer, but it isn’t the standout I was expecting.

Bottle at CP&K. It pours cloudy light orange, with a large, long-lasting white head. The nose is full of tangy fruit - orange, kiwi, white grape, melon and pear, as well as farmyard and spice. The taste is farmyard, spice, tart orange, citrus peel, tangerine, mango, bread and some alcohol warmth, with a long-dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Well balanced and well made.

On draft at Sharp Edge Brasserie. Poured hazy gold with some splotches of white lace. Sweet nose. Flavor of pears, sweet candi sugar, yeast. Somewhat of a spicy, peppery dry finish. Some subtle warming alcohol present. Bomb ass shit!
