HopHeadinAZ (120), USA Dec 23, 2007 750 ML bottle: 2006 release. Pours a hazy golden with a lingering medium ivory head. The nose is very complex. There is spice, and yeast on the nose. The taste follows with a bit of coriander, pepper and yeast. The palate is good although not exceptional. The mouth feel is medium. Overall this is a very nice beer although I don’t think it has anything that would define it as a holiday beer in American terms. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2007 Gorgeous pour ... apricot gold with a huge firm big-bubble pure white head. Nose of yeast, orange, coriander. Taste of yeast, orange, coriander, pepper bite ... and then ... out of nowhere ... nasty of nasties ... serious funk. What is this doing in a Saison? Have we gone lambic all of a sudden? I’ll need to think about this some more. And as it breathes the skuny funkiness goes away. I sort of like this. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 23, 2007 Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 750 ml corked bottle. Hazy, medium peach colored pour with a soft silky white head that leaves delicate clingy lacing. Fresh flowery aroma with hints of pear juice, a mixture of spices - perhaps coriander. Full-bodied flavor with some soft citrus notes, light yeast, hints of sweet uncooked cake mix. Spicy notes shine through in the back end with some coriander notes and a lemony aftertaste that permeates throughout. Thickish creamy mouthfeel that coats the tongue and warms the belly. Excellent Saison that hits the spot after a long day of last minute Christmas shopping. DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Dec 22, 2007 You’d expect strong yeasty spice, but carbonation and overall balance of flavor is not as profound as the standard Saison Dupont. Good, but not great. Worthy of another bottle though....maybe the review will change???? HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Dec 21, 2007 Bottle. Great beer with food. Pours wiht a nice yellow cloudy color. very strong yeast aromas with some funk and spices.
Greta flavors of bread, yeast and some spices. Very creamy palate but at the same some bubbliness. Much better in my mind than the regular Saison. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 20, 2007 Pours a light gold in color with a nice frothy head that leaves plenty of lacing. Smell is all belgian yeast and some funk. Taste is much the same, but works well. Some lemon zest and spice coming through the funk. Creamy and just perfeclty carbonated, not too much. An easy drinker that will catch up with you in a hurry. Very good. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Dec 15, 2007 Tap at the Blue Nile. Generously poured by Pigfoot. Thanks Al! Dry, dusty yeast with spices and orange zest. Perfume and soap. Quite aromatic. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Very sweet malt initially on the palate balanced nicely by loads of dry and spicy yeast. Soft and creamy. Delicate with excellent carbonation. Finishes quite dry. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Dec 14, 2007 Draft at d.b.a. Golden pour with medium sized white head. Aroma of some earth and spices. Flavor is sort of a conglomeration of earthy malt, spices, a little sour lemon, and blond belgian malt sweetness. Pretty good blend of flavors, but I would prefer to have any one of the flavors stand out a little more.
