Pours a clouded gold with a white head. Nose is thick with mild yeasts and a slightly sweet tone. Flavor is hearty with an earthen tone that is very present. Overall a very robust and heavy flavor ride. Feel is good. A nice level of bubble and smooth on the tongue. Overall very drinkable. I might have drunk this one a bit too young, though. I’d be interested to see what some age would do to it. If I wasn’t moving in 2.5 weeks, I would have let this one sit for a while.

Augustijn55 (82), Izegem, Belgium Aug 30, 2007 Bottle 37,5. Dark golden almost amber color, with big nice white head. Aromas hops, vanille, yeasts. A wonderful, hoppy tripel ! Perfect. The body is full. Great taste but complex alcoholic, yeast, hops, bitter, fruity ...
Once of the finest beers I’ve ever had. emotv (331), Izmir, Turkey Aug 28, 2007 Tasted at Delirium cafe at Brusells, Golden colour and with a golden touch on lips, Great scent on room what a beer. Something must be magical. Great flavour, great beer. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 27, 2007 Clear warm golden yellow with a rocky white head, softening with time, thinning gradually. Sweet malt backbone with some spice, cinnamon, lemony pepper (hops?), a bit soapy. I can slightly smell the christmas. Low carbonation, a bit viscous and creamy. Sweet, with bittery lemony peppery hops. A bit soapy, a bit creamy, a sharp little bit of alcoholic acidity. Herbal, alcoholic finish, lingering bitterness. A bit too sweet, a bit too spicy. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2007 Gorgeous whipped cream head and a very aromatic character which leaps up from the snifter. Intriguing notes of powdered wasabi, grains of paradise, cardamom, white pepper and a bit of anise seed. Also of note is the famed Dupont house yeast strain which offers another layer of complexity with interesting esters and a solid earthiness. Fruity with some slight citrus. Alcohol level has a slight hint of fusel, but for the style and the level – nothing to be alarmed about. Typically I like my Saisons more subtle and this certainly packs more of a pop, but still retains the refreshing character, crisp spiced notes and balanced complexity that make this a hallmark of its class. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 26, 2007 750, about a year old at this point. Still very fresh and pert in its flavors, with a big golden body and huge head/lacing. The winter spices intended to differentiate this from the standard Dupont saison are verrrrry subtle - a hint of cardamom, some vanilla, a very faint sour apple. Basically it’s a fine and distinct saison that’s as good during this brutal heat as it is during the winter. Kudos!
