Bottle. Rating #667: The Neighbor of the Beast. I still can’t get worked up about the taste of lemony sweat and wet dog. Maybe some day.

A Mes rate: 37.5cl bottle from what used to be Thirst for Beer in that place in Wales. Wonderful crisp looking colour with a superbly behaved head that finally settles to a thin film and lasts all the way down. Wonderful spicy blonde aroma with hints of hay or straw but underlying perfumed character that is nothing short of enticing. Colour has just gone totally opaque with the final pour. The creamiest hops fall out of the glass and prickle the senses before it even touches your lips. Mouthfeel is surprisingly delicate but spritzy at the same time. Almost funky in the mouth with plenty of what you want from this type of beer but it’s the finish that really makes this a killer. Inititally unexpectedly sweet but then fiercely bitter followed by a rush of alcohol and it keeps coming in waves. Superb length and a glorious warmth from the good stuff. Seriously good.

Taste is very yeasty at first sip. Aroma has a slight spicy with a faint haze to it. The head is attractive yet dissipates rather quickly. The fizzy carbonation tickles your tongue. The rest has a harsh spicy taste yet is very satisfying .

The aroma is very yeasty with a cheese and corn souffle element. The appearance is deep gold with a slight orange hue. The flavor is like the aroma with an astringent bitter finish. The palate is OK but a tad thin. This is interesting but not something I would want to drink regularly.

Golden brew with a thick head. Despite the complex flavors, one of the most refreshing brews,

Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Pours hazy bubbly gold. Aroma is bleu cheese, tart, tangy, musty, biting. Flavor is smoky, bleu cheese, with a tartness that tapers.

From a 750 ml. caged corked green bottle, 2.005 on the cork, and what appears to be a best before date on the lower right corner on the front label, sampled at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Poured a bright golden orange with a frothy, foamy white head, retention, some laced sticking. Aromas of clove, spices, peppery and herbal, honey, tropical fruits and whiffs of solvent-like alcohol. Good carbonation and a crisp, dry, carbonated smooth light bodied mouthfeel, very nice. Pleasant spice and herbal taste, honey pale malts, tropical fruity that meshes with solvent alcohol, alcohol is warming in the back of the throat, clove, coriander and a peppery spice, earthy, herbal hops that have a soft bitterness, and a dry tart yeasty, malty finish with a little lingering herbalness. A very enjoyable saison, recommended to me by a employee at Sam’s, Lincoln Park Chicago, thanks!

Beautiful golden color and appearance in the glass. Spicy, peppery flavor, extremely easy to drink and I’m shocked that this is 9.5% ABV. Almost a perfect beer, extremely tasty and very well made. A classic.
