Biolégère/Avril is Brasserie Dupont’s Biére de Table. Aromatic like fresh bread, full in the mouth and light on the finish.

Every now and again there is a beer that will get me to come out of rating retirement, and this is one of those beers. 750ml bottle labed as "Avril". Cork (with 2012 on it) comes out with an intense "pop", making me worried about gushing, as happened with my most recent Dupont saison, but everything stayed in the bottle. Pour is a hazed very light honey with a rocky bone white head that fades rather quickly to a spare cap, leaving behind minimal lacing. Aroma is bursting with apple, pear, light cut grass, hay. Light malt character, expressing itself with the yeast as a slight doughy component, like rising bread. Taste is more pome fruit, very light lemony tartness, grass and hay. Some sips offer the suggestion of apple cobbler, with light phenol and ester character pushing indistinguishable spices forward a bit to combine with the pome fruit and subtle malt. High carbonation level gives this beer a much "bigger" body than expected, lifting it off the palate and really driving some of the aromatics. Finish has light mineral character, like river washed pebbles or Lake Superior on a windy day. Light bitterness and bone dry. For me, this is as close to perfection as I’ve encountered.

Overall: Funky, spicy, nice smell, thin body.
Note: Bottle 250 ml at a De Klomp tasting. Reviewed 2014-04-12.

Hazy yellow, white head, decent lacing. Papery nose with sour grainy and yeasty notes. Flavour is grainy sourness, yeasty sweetness, water and vague hops. Drinkable, but otherwise not for me. Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

0,25L bottle, BB 05.2015. Pours slightly hazy straw-golden with white head. The head stays. Aroma is fruity, sweet, sour, and Belgian yeast. Taste is watery, sour, fruits, lemon, and yeast. Finish is sour and dry bitter. Overall: tastes like someone mixed water and some Belgian beer.

Many, many bottles from 2008 onwards, as "Avril"
Perfect, pale-straw appearance with tons of well-retained head.
Soft floral hops and light spiciness in the nose. Lavendar and rosewater suggestions. Just so very delicate and perfumey with nary any acidity. Wonderful esters are actually fairly reserved. Incredibly high strength of aroma for its size.
Perfect on the palate and mouth. Like licking a dollop of honey off a freshly cut piece of hay. Soft vanilla and very light bitterness. As if you even needed a more sessionable version of the Saison! But they go and make it anyways. Wow, just a knockout. And I can get this stuff for $11 for a 750mL???? Right up there with Taras Boulba and just everything that is good about beer!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with white head. Yeasty, musty, citrusy aromas. Yeasty, straw, slight lemon, musty, bread flavors. A refreshing, tasty beer. I wouldn’t even know it was a 3.5% beer just by drinking it.

Bottle from NK Saluhall. Pours hazy golden with a shortlasting White head. Hoppy barnyard, citrus sweet and bitter, slightly too much taste for the body.

750 ml corked bottle from Boise Co-op. Light and somewhat bland saison. Listed on the label as a "table beer" (mine is labeled as "Avril") this would be good for drinking with food at lunch or dinner. Pale hazy golden with thick airy head. Light lemony/citrus aroma. taste is more grassy than floral, more hay than spice, extremely lightweight all around.
